There are not ten substantiated cases of wrestlers pooping their pants in the ring in the available reporting. A few wrestlers have publicly recounted accidents, but some familiar entries are secondhand stories, post-match discoveries or backstage incidents—and the often-repeated claim about Sid Vicious at WrestleMania XIII remains unconfirmed. The accounts below are separated by what they actually establish, rather than padded into a top ten.
How to read these stories
An attributed recollection establishes that someone told a story; it does not independently verify every match detail. The reports below rely mainly on secondary wrestling and entertainment coverage from 2013 to 2024, which points to interviews, a television program, a podcast or a magazine account. The primary recordings and publication were not independently reviewed for this article.
That distinction matters here: “during a match,” “discovered after a match” and “backstage before a segment” are not interchangeable. Nor should an unconfirmed rumor be counted as a proven incident.
Accounts described as happening during a match
CM Punk: a 2013 match with Dean Ambrose
Wrestling Inc. reports that Punk recalled an accident during a 2013 SmackDown match with Jon Moxley, who was then wrestling as Dean Ambrose. In the account, Punk attributed the mishap to taking an antibiotic. The coverage says he tweeted about it and later deleted or changed the post. This is a first-person recollection relayed through secondary reporting; it is not grounds for drawing medical conclusions beyond Punk’s own explanation. Wrestling Inc.’s account

Steve Austin: a 1996 South Africa tour
Wrestling Inc. attributes to Austin a story about an accident after Yokozuna slammed him during a match on a South Africa tour in 1996. The report says Austin told the story on Hot Ones. It reproduces his explanation: “A lot of times, when you’re doing international travel and there is a dietary change, things happen.” That is Austin’s attributed account, not independent verification of the match circumstances. John Cena: the location changes between recollections
Two reported versions of Cena’s story name different cities. A 2008 account attributed to WWE Magazine places the episode in Winnipeg: Cena said he was wrestling Scott Steiner, with Bull Buchanan involved, and described going under the ring to vomit. The 2013 report about his story on Total Divas instead places the accident in Saskatoon and attributes it to food poisoning. That report also notes that match records may point to Jacksonville, but the underlying history source was not reviewed. With those conflicts, the exact location should not be presented as settled.

André the Giant and Bad News Allen: Bam Bam Bigelow’s account
Wrestling Inc. recounts Bam Bam Bigelow’s story of a match in Mexico, around 1992, in which André the Giant accidentally defecated on Bad News Allen during a seated move. The report attributes the story to Bigelow and links it to an interview with Title Match Wrestling; the interview recording itself was not reviewed here. Bigelow reportedly called it “the nastiest, grossest, funniest thing you ever wanted to see.” This belongs in the category of a named witness’s retelling, not independently verified footage or a confirmed match record. Stories that are not confirmed in-ring accidents
Sid Vicious at WrestleMania XIII: unconfirmed rumor
The claim that Sid had an accident during his WrestleMania XIII match is not confirmed by the reporting. Wrestling Inc. says Mick Foley discussed the rumor on Foley Is Pod, but Foley’s sympathetic comments do not establish that it happened. His general remark—“If you haven’t pooped your pants, you haven’t tried hard enough.”—was not confirmation of Sid’s case. Wrestling Inc.’s report on the rumor
Tommy Dreamer and Mark Henry: discovered after the match
WhatCulture attributes to Dreamer a story about finding a “cube of poop” in his gear after a match involving Mark Henry. The report describes a discovery after the match and a doctor’s explanation; it does not clearly establish that the accident happened in the ring. It is therefore a post-match discovery in Dreamer’s account, not a definite in-ring incident. WhatCulture’s account

Vince McMahon: backstage before a Raw segment
Wrestling Inc. recounts Jim Ross’s story that McMahon accidentally soiled himself backstage while preparing to go on Raw. The reported location is gorilla position, before McMahon’s entrance—not the ring. It may be an embarrassing wrestling story, but it does not fit the literal title. Wrestling Inc.’s account

The available accounts do not substantiate ten distinct confirmed in-ring accidents. Filling ten spots would require mixing match recollections with witness retellings, an after-the-match discovery, a backstage incident and an unconfirmed rumor, while implying they are all the same kind of evidence. The useful conclusion is narrower: several stories are publicly attributed to wrestlers or witnesses, but their certainty and context vary, and Sid’s WrestleMania XIII story remains unverified in the cited coverage.
