Did the Friends cast get along?
By the cast members’ own accounts, they shared a close, supportive working relationship. The sitcom ran for 10 seasons, from 1994 to 2004, according to the Associated Press. Their recollections point to a sense of solidarity on set, though a strong working relationship does not by itself reveal how often they stayed in touch socially afterward.
In a 2021 interview, Courteney Cox recalled how the cast stood together on equal pay: “That was the first time that people had all stuck together in a cast.” Lisa Kudrow said that the equal-pay agreement “got rid of bitterness” and described their relationship as “really rare and really lucky,” according to The Howard Stern Show. Their comments are evidence of professional unity and affection, not a schedule of private gatherings.
Which cast members are documented as especially close?

The most specific public account of post-series closeness in the available reporting comes from Aniston, Cox, and Kudrow speaking together in 2021. The interview report describes their bond as having grown stronger. Aniston said the show was “more than a job” and “more than a TV show”; it was family. That supports saying the three publicly described a close connection at that time. It does not establish how frequently they communicate now or show that their relationships were closer than those of the other cast members.
The wider group
Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer are part of the ensemble evidence too: Warner Bros. Discovery’s official 2021 reunion announcement says all six original stars returned to the original soundstage for Friends: The Reunion. That confirms they came together for the special, not that they met regularly in private.
What did the cast say after Matthew Perry died?
After Perry’s death in 2023, Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, and Schwimmer issued a joint statement. The Associated Press reproduced their words: “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.” The statement is direct evidence that the five surviving cast members publicly expressed shared grief and affection for Perry. It does not specify how often they had been in contact with him or with one another before his death.

Did they hang out after the finale?
The documented occasions answer a narrower question than readers may have in mind. A reunion special shows that all six appeared together again in 2021, and the 2023 statement shows the surviving five responding together to Perry’s death. Neither establishes a routine of socializing between the 2004 finale and those later events.
- Established: the cast spoke warmly about their working relationship; Aniston, Cox, and Kudrow publicly discussed a close bond in 2021; all six reunited for the 2021 special; and the five surviving stars described Perry as family in 2023.
- Not established: a complete account of who called or met whom, how often they did so, or whether all six maintained equally close one-to-one friendships.
So the careful answer is that the cast appeared to get along and expressed enduring affection, with especially direct public evidence for Aniston, Cox, and Kudrow’s bond. The available accounts cannot confirm a regular hangout schedule or map every private friendship.
