The available reporting does not establish that a new Mirror Master brought back a Season 6 villain. It points instead to two separate Season 6 storylines: Eva McCulloch’s mirror-centered arc and Ramsey Rosso, also known as Bloodwork, who returned in the series’ final season. Bloodwork later reappearing in the story is not proof that a Mirror Master caused his return.
What the headline gets wrong
The claim bundles together events and characters that the reporting treats separately. Rotten Tomatoes’ interview coverage of showrunner Eric Wallace describes Season 6 as having two distinct stories with different antagonists. McCulloch Industries and its mirror technology set up the later mirror storyline; that does not establish a causal link between a “new Mirror Master” and Bloodwork’s return.
The exact-headline page makes broad claims about that connection, but the available supporting reports do not substantiate them. The most accurate answer is that the headline’s premise remains unverified, not that the show has confirmed a Mirror Master brought Bloodwork back.
Which villains are being confused?
| Character or identity | Season 6 connection | Evidence about Bloodwork’s return |
|---|---|---|
| Eva McCulloch, associated with Mirror Monarch | The antagonist of the later, mirror-centered Season 6 storyline. The season overview identifies her as a major antagonist in the second half of the season, with the story continuing into early Season 7. Season overview | The cited reporting does not say she caused or arranged Bloodwork’s return. |
| Ramsey Rosso, or Bloodwork | Belongs to an earlier, separate Season 6 villain arc, as distinct from the later mirror story. TVLine’s Season 6 coverage | TVLine reported that Bloodwork would return in Season 9, but did not tie his return to a new Mirror Master. Season 9 casting report |
| Sam Scudder’s Mirror Master | An earlier Mirror Master incarnation distinguished in TVLine’s coverage from the later mirror-focused material. | The cited report does not connect this incarnation to Bloodwork’s Season 9 return. |
That distinction matters because “Mirror Master” can refer to more than one character or incarnation, while the later Season 6 storyline is associated with Eva McCulloch and Mirror Monarch. Calling either one simply “the new Mirror Master” can make separate storylines sound like a single plot.

Why Bloodwork appears again in the mirror-era story
SYFY’s recap discusses Bloodwork becoming relevant again during the Mirrorverse storyline, including the double-character plot around Iris. That places Bloodwork back in the broader Season 6 narrative, but it does not say that a Mirror Master brought him back, controlled him, or engineered his return.
In other words, a story can revisit an earlier villain while a different storyline is unfolding without establishing that the second antagonist caused the first villain’s return. The recaps support the overlap in the season’s narrative; they do not establish the causal claim in the headline.

TVLine’s Season 9 coverage reports Bloodwork’s return. Warner Bros. separately announced that Season 9 would conclude the series. Warner Bros.’ announcement confirms the season’s status as the finale, but neither it nor the cited casting report links Bloodwork’s return to a new Mirror Master.
So there are two supported points: Bloodwork was reported as returning in the final season, and Season 6 had a later mirror-centered arc distinct from his earlier arc. The proposed connection between those points is not established by the cited sources.

How to read the character names
- “Mirror Master” may refer to an earlier incarnation such as Sam Scudder; it should not automatically be treated as another name for Eva McCulloch.
- “Mirror Monarch” is the identity associated with McCulloch in the later mirror storyline.
- “Original Season 6 villain” is ambiguous. If it means Bloodwork, he belongs to the earlier arc. If it means an earlier Mirror Master incarnation, that is a different character question—not evidence of Bloodwork’s return being caused by the mirror storyline.
