Reports in June 2025 said India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked the makers of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par to add a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CBFC’s official record confirms the film’s certification date and category, but does not document that request. The quote’s exact wording has not been established in the cited reports.
What was reported about the Modi quote?
Scroll.in reported on June 19, 2025, that the CBFC had asked for a Modi quote to be included at the beginning of the film. Scroll said the quote referred to 2047, but noted that its subject was not immediately clear. Hindustan Times also reported the 2047 reference. Neither account provides the full wording, so the quote cannot be reproduced or its precise context confirmed.
The reports describe the quote’s placement differently. Scroll places it at the beginning of the film, while Bollywood Hungama’s June 17 account says the Revising Committee asked for it after the opening disclaimer. The available information does not resolve that difference.
What does the official CBFC record confirm?
The CBFC film-search record lists the title as “SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR SABKA APNA APNA NORMAL.” It identifies the language as Hindi and the category as UA 13+. The certificate was issued by the Mumbai regional office on June 17, 2025, under number DIL/6/127/2025-MUM. The record names Aamir Khan Films LLP as producer and applicant and gives the certified length as 158.46 metres. CBFC film-search record

The same report said a U/A 13+ certificate was awarded on June 17. The CBFC record independently confirms the certificate date and UA 13+ category, but does not confirm the committee’s reported requests. Bollywood Hungama’s report
Scroll attributed the report of a removed visual and a subtitle containing “kamal” to Bollywood Hungama. Its account also linked 2047 to the centenary of Indian independence and the government’s Viksit Bharat campaign; that context does not establish the quote’s exact words.
