Yes—according to accounts from The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, prop master Scott London prepared some real food used in scenes. Reported examples include Chinese food made on the day and a soup so heavy on sriracha that Johnny Galecki gagged during a scene. That does not mean every meal on the show was real or that actors ate full portions in every take.
What food did Scott London prepare?
Chinese food made on the day
A 2023 account in Scorpio Like You, drawing on Jessica Radloff’s oral history, describes London making Chinese food for a scene. The rice was prepared in the prop room with vegetables and seasoning.

A soup with too much sriracha
London also recalled a soup mishap. As quoted in the report, he said: “But on one of our first shows back, I got a little overzealous with the sriracha, and right in the middle of a scene he started gagging. Whoops.” The actor was Johnny Galecki.
Who was Scott London?
London was the show’s prop master. The transcript of The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast describes him as prop master for all 12 seasons. The food stories are reported from Radloff’s book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series; they are specific recollections, not a complete record of every meal or eating scene.

Was all the food on The Big Bang Theory real?
No universal rule is established by the accounts. Looper reports cast and producer comments describing real food and London adapting dishes to cast preferences; Melissa Rauch is quoted as saying he had a chef background. These remarks support the idea that some food was prepared for scenes, but they do not show that every item was real, that London made every dish, or that actors ate a full serving during every take.

A dish can be real and edible without an actor consuming a full portion each time a scene is filmed. The available accounts establish particular instances of London preparing food and one reaction to an overly spicy soup. They do not document how much anyone ate across takes, who prepared food in other scenes, or how production handled food safety.
