Yes. Astronomer announced on July 19, 2025, that CEO Andy Byron had resigned and that its board had accepted his resignation. The announcement followed a viral video from a Coldplay concert that showed Byron with Kristin Cabot, then the company’s chief people officer. The footage prompted speculation about their relationship, but it does not by itself establish that an affair occurred.
What happened to Andy Byron?
Astronomer first placed Byron on leave on July 18, 2025, while its board began a formal investigation. The next day, the company announced that Byron had resigned and that the board had accepted the resignation. The Associated Press reported the board’s statement that its leaders were expected to model “conduct and accountability,” adding that “recently, that standard was not met.” AP’s July 19 report described the resignation and investigation; Reuters’ account republished by Inc. covered the announcement the following day.

The resignation was the career update behind the July 21, 2025, headline: it was a departure from the CEO role, not news of a new job. No later career move for Byron is established by the cited reports.
What did the Coldplay video show?
The footage was captured July 16, 2025, during Coldplay’s performance at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. It showed Byron and Cabot together on a stadium screen and their apparent reaction when they realized they were being shown. The Associated Press identified Byron and Cabot and reported their company roles at the time. The AP report recounts the concert and the company response.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked from the stage that the two might be “having an affair or they’re just very shy,” as reported by Futurism. That was an onstage quip, not evidence about their private relationship. The video and the reactions it prompted do not establish that either person cheated.
Who led Astronomer after Byron left?
When Byron was placed on leave, co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy was serving as interim CEO. Astronomer said it would search for a permanent CEO, according to the contemporaneous reports from Reuters, republished by Inc., and the Associated Press. Those reports describe the July 2025 arrangement; they do not establish who leads Astronomer now.

What is known about the resignation terms and investigation?
Axios, in a July 18, 2025, report updated that day, said the timing of the resignation involved exit-package negotiations, citing sources familiar with the situation. Astronomer’s public announcement, as reported in the cited coverage, did not disclose package terms, and the reports do not establish a dollar amount.
The board’s formal investigation was underway when Astronomer announced Byron’s departure. The cited reports do not state its eventual outcome. Astronomer is described in the coverage as a data-operations company working in analytics and production AI; the “AI CEO” wording in the headline should not be read as saying Astronomer is an AI-model company.
