No. Brendan Fevola predicted that the AFL would drop Snoop Dogg from the 2025 Grand Final pre-game show, but there was no public confirmation of such a plan. Snoop performed at the event on 27 September 2025, so Fevola’s prediction did not come true.
What did Brendan Fevola say about Snoop Dogg?
On 25 August 2025, Fevola said on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, “They’re going to axe him,” according to PerthNow’s report. He linked his prediction to Snoop’s past lyrics and comments about a same-sex couple in Lightyear, in the context of public discussion following Adelaide forward Izak Rankine’s suspension for using a homophobic slur.
That was Fevola’s prediction, not an announcement from the AFL or evidence that he had inside confirmation. The report attributes the remarks to the radio segment; it is not a full transcript.
What had the AFL said about the booking?
The AFL had announced Snoop Dogg as headliner for the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final on 11 August. Amid criticism of the booking, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon defended the decision on 21 August. He said: “What I can say is that our pre-match entertainment on AFL Grand Final day will be family-friendly and consistent with the audience at the MCG and those watching the broadcast.” The AFL’s statement also acknowledged scrutiny of Snoop’s past lyrics while presenting the event performance as suitable for its audience.

Dillon’s comments were the league’s public position; they do not establish whether it privately considered changing the booking. The public record cited here contains no AFL announcement that Snoop had been dropped.
What happened at the 2025 Grand Final?
Snoop performed at the Grand Final on 27 September 2025, alongside Baker Boy and Tash Sultana. ABC’s event report confirms the lineup. The AFL’s 2025 Annual Report says the Telstra-presented show reached 100,000 fans at the MCG and millions across the match broadcast; those audience figures are the AFL’s own account.

Is Kylie Minogue’s 2026 booking related?
No. ABC reported on 30 March 2026 that Kylie Minogue had been named to headline the men’s Grand Final entertainment scheduled for 26 September 2026 at the MCG. That is a booking for the following season, not a late replacement for Snoop at the 2025 event.
