Was Prince Andrew’s move to Frogmore Cottage confirmed?
No. The idea that Andrew might move to Frogmore Cottage appeared as an unconfirmed report, not an announced decision. Sky News reported in 2023 that there had been reports he was offered the cottage, but a Palace official would not discuss private lease arrangements, and the Palace gave no information about a future resident. Sky News’s 2023 report therefore does not establish that an offer was made or that Andrew accepted one.
What did Buckingham Palace announce about Royal Lodge?
On 30 October 2025, Buckingham Palace said Andrew’s Royal Lodge lease had provided legal protection to remain there and that formal notice had been served to surrender the lease. The statement said he would move to “alternative private accommodation,” but did not identify Frogmore Cottage or any other destination. The Palace statement did not name an individual speaker.
Where was Andrew reported to be staying in February 2026?
An Associated Press report dated 4 February 2026 said Andrew had moved out of Royal Lodge and was staying temporarily at Wood Farm while repairs were underway at a permanent home on the Sandringham estate. That report is dated reporting, not a new Palace confirmation of his current occupancy. It distinguishes the temporary stay at Wood Farm from the longer-term home then being repaired.

Are Frogmore Cottage and Frogmore House the same place?
No. Frogmore House and Frogmore Cottage are distinct properties. The Royal Family’s history page describes Frogmore House, locating it in Windsor Home Park about half a mile south of Windsor Castle and noting that it has been a royal residence since 1792. Those details apply to Frogmore House, not Frogmore Cottage. The official history page is not a profile of the Cottage.
What is still unknown about Frogmore Cottage?
The cited sources do not establish Frogmore Cottage’s current occupancy or lease status, who controls its occupancy, whether Andrew was ever formally offered it, or whether his accommodation changed after the February 2026 AP report. The earlier rumor and information about Frogmore House do not answer those questions.

How should the property-rental figures be understood?
The National Audit Office reported £3.6 million in rental income for residential properties used for non-official purposes in financial year 2024–25. This is a portfolio-wide figure; it is not stated as income from Frogmore Cottage or Andrew’s accommodation. The NAO’s 2026 investigation also notes that Andrew contacted The Crown Estate in February 2026 to request surrender of the lease on Staff Lodge 2, a separate property. The NAO report does not identify Staff Lodge 2 as Frogmore Cottage.
