Did Loverboy Lose Almost $3 Million? Kyle Cooke’s Financial-Crisis Timeline

Kyle Cooke’s almost-$3-million loss figure was a 2024 account of the prior year—not an audited result or a current balance. Here’s how later cash-crisis statements and 2026 product updates fit together.

Kyle Cooke said Loverboy lost almost $3 million in 2023, then described further losses and cash pressure in 2024. Later Bravo coverage documented a sharper cash squeeze, but also reported that the drinks brand remained active in 2026. These are statements reported from Bravo programming—not audited financial results—so the figures should be read as snapshots from different moments, not as one current balance sheet.

Did Loverboy lose almost $3 million?

Yes—according to Cooke’s account in the Summer House Season 8 After Show, reported by Bravo on May 16, 2024. He said, “You know, last year we lost almost $3 million,” referring to the year before that 2024 discussion. Bravo’s report does not establish that figure through audited accounts or independent financial records. Bravo’s 2024 report

In the same coverage, Cooke said Loverboy had been profitable for the three years before the loss period and had lost $1.5 million in the first six months of the year he was discussing. Those statements describe separate periods: the almost-$3-million loss was for the prior year, while the $1.5-million figure covered the first half of the subsequent year.

What did Cooke say was putting pressure on the business?

Cooke said Loverboy had experienced a decline in distribution during the preceding six months, which he said meant lower revenue. In the Bravo footage, he put it this way: “In the last six months, we’ve actually seen a decline in distribution, which means declines in revenue.” He also said he stopped taking a salary to preserve cash. These are Cooke’s explanations, not an independent accounting of the company’s performance. Bravo’s 2024 report

In an interview published August 12, 2026, Cooke described the practical difficulty of selling alcohol through wholesalers and retailers: “In some cases, the easiest thing for us to do is turn around and make some merch, because with alcohol particularly, getting it through the wholesale retail distribution system is timely and resource intensive.” The remark points to distribution as an operational challenge; it does not quantify how much that challenge contributed to the losses. How the reported financial picture changed

Later statements described cash runway, payroll pressure and debt—not just operating losses. The numbers below come from different episodes and dates and measure different things. They should not be added together or treated as simultaneous figures.

Time reported What was said What the figure describes
2024 coverage, discussing 2023 Cooke said Loverboy lost almost $3 million in the prior year. Reported annual loss; not established as an audited result. Bravo, May 16, 2024
2024 coverage, discussing the current year Cooke said the company lost $1.5 million in the first six months. Reported half-year loss. Bravo, May 16, 2024
2025 conversation, recapped by Bravo in 2026 Cooke said he had recently put in $500,000 of his own money, stopped taking a paycheck, and had about three months of payroll left. Ben Waddell recounted a remaining $2.1 million balance on a loan Cooke had personally guaranteed. Personal contribution, payroll runway and reported loan balance from Season 10 footage; not a single measure of company losses. Bravo’s Season 10 recap
2026 episode coverage Cooke said Loverboy lost $175,000 in one month before a $150,000 monthly loan payment. Episode-specific monthly loss and payment statement. Bravo’s April 2026 report
2026 investor-call storyline Cooke said the company might have six months at most based on cash reserves. His runway estimate at that point, not a current balance. Bravo’s report
June 2026 Cooke told employees the money in the bank could last until the end of the year. He said Loverboy was speaking with potential partners about a minority or majority stake, but discussions were moving more slowly than he wanted. Was Loverboy close to bankruptcy?

Bravo’s 2026 coverage described a serious cash crisis and reported that Cooke raised the possibility of bankruptcy. It also relayed his estimates of limited cash runway and reported payroll and debt pressures. That supports saying the company faced acute financial strain; it does not establish that Loverboy filed for bankruptcy or that bankruptcy was inevitable.

The runway statements are tied to particular conversations. In June 2026, Cooke told employees, “We have enough money in the bank to basically last ’til the end of the year.” In that same episode, he said the company was talking with prospective partners about a minority or majority stake, while noting that talks were slower than he wanted. Is Loverboy still in business?

Bravo reported in May 2026 that a sales upswing helped Loverboy keep operating, and in August that Cooke said the brand was still surviving. The August report described relaunches of limoncello and espresso martini spritzes. Those updates show continued activity and product releases at the time reported; they do not establish the company’s current solvency or long-term prospects. Loverboy is known for canned alcoholic drinks, including sparkling hard tea and spritzes. The reporting also describes merchandise as one revenue avenue Cooke pursued. The available coverage does not verify a particular retailer’s current stock or delivery availability.

What the figures can—and cannot—show

The public figures are on-screen statements reported by Bravo, including dialogue from different years and episodes. The sources cited here do not include audited statements, loan documents or company filings that independently verify the losses, debt, cash reserves or investment discussions. The clearest account is therefore a dated timeline: Cooke described substantial losses in 2023 and early 2024, later coverage reported severe cash and debt pressure, and 2026 updates described continued operations and product activity.
