Where the Christmas FaceTime claim came from
On December 20, 2024, Marie Claire reported that Grant Harrold, a former royal butler, expected King Charles to communicate with his grandchildren on Christmas Day. Harrold said he was “willing to bet” there would be “some sort of [Zoom] communication” and that he would be surprised if the King did not FaceTime them. Marie Claire attributed his remarks to an interview with The Sun’s Fabulous magazine.
Those words express Harrold’s expectation, not an announcement from King Charles or Buckingham Palace. Royal Insider also reported Harrold’s prediction on December 20, 2024; it is a second account of his remarks, not confirmation from the Royal Family.
Was a call confirmed or reported to have happened?
The reports described a forecast made before Christmas 2024. They do not verify that a call was arranged or that one took place. The distinction matters: a former staff member’s prediction cannot establish a private family event, and the reviewed reporting contains no confirmation from the King, Buckingham Palace, or the Sussexes.

What later family contact is confirmed?
The Associated Press reported on July 10, 2026, that Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles and Queen Camilla met Prince Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet at Highgrove. AP described the gathering as private and said images would not be made public. That report establishes an in-person meeting; it says nothing about a Christmas video call.
What can be said about Christmas 2026?
The 2024 prediction does not establish any plan for Christmas 2026. No confirmed schedule or announcement of a call for that Christmas appears in the cited reports. Zoom and FaceTime were mentioned as possibilities in Harrold’s prediction, not as verified details of a call.
