What Rogers said about the divorce
Rogers portrayed the separation as a mutual decision, not a bitter break. In the Irish Independent interview, he said that after their son Christopher was born, Gordon stopped touring to care for him at home. Rogers said their lifestyles began to clash when he returned from touring or tennis. He described their decision this way: “Life is short, we deserve to be happy, let’s find something else to do with our lives.” That is Rogers’s explanation of the marriage’s end, rather than an independently established account of every factor behind it.
Rogers also spoke appreciatively of Gordon’s role in his life and career. He said she had stood by him when he was struggling financially early in his career, and described their marriage as “perfect” for 15 years. Those are his recollections, not a claim that the relationship had no difficulties.

Was the divorce settlement really $60 million?
The Irish Independent reported a $60 million divorce settlement, and Rogers said Gordon “really did deserve the 60 million.” The available reporting supports describing it as a reported settlement figure; it does not include a court filing or primary financial record independently verifying the precise amount.
