Catherine, Princess of Wales, Prince William and their children did not attend the royal Easter service on April 20, 2025, ABC News and E! reported. The headline’s “again” referred to their absence in 2024—not a plan to miss a future service. The family returned to Easter Matins at St George’s Chapel on April 5, 2026.
What happened at Easter in 2025?
The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children were absent from the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel on April 20, 2025. ABC News described it as their second consecutive year away; reports also noted that the family had not attended in 2024. The service is a longstanding royal family tradition, but that does not by itself establish that the Waleses missed a formal engagement.
Why did William and Catherine skip the 2025 service?
No confirmed reason for their absence was given in the cited coverage. The reports do not establish whether it was due to private family plans, health, or any other cause. Speculation about a deliberate snub or other motive should not be treated as fact.
E! also reported a Buckingham Palace statement about King Charles experiencing temporary side effects after scheduled and ongoing cancer treatment, requiring a short period of hospital observation. That statement concerned the King; it did not explain the Wales family’s absence.

Did Kate and William attend Easter service in 2026?
Yes. ABC News reported that the family attended Easter Matins at St George’s Chapel on April 5, 2026. The appearance marked their return after missing the service in 2024 and 2025.
When did they last attend before their absence?
The reported chronology is attendance in 2023, absence in 2024 and 2025, then a return in 2026. The 2025 reporting establishes the two-year absence; the 2026 coverage describes their return after that gap.
