The feud made headlines and “Killshot” drew a large audience, but public chart and streaming figures do not show how much Eminem or Machine Gun Kelly personally earned. The available evidence supports a surge in visibility—not a specific windfall for either artist, or proof that they profited equally.
What the numbers show
Eminem’s album Kamikaze debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 434,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Billboard’s 2018 report (Billboard). That is a chart measure for the album, not money paid to Eminem; the album was already performing strongly as the feud escalated.
“Killshot” recorded 51.3 million streams in its first tracking week, Billboard reported in 2018, and ranked No. 2 on its Streaming Songs chart. Billboard said 94 percent of those streams came from video views. The track debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to The FADER’s September 2018 coverage (The FADER). These figures establish substantial consumption and chart performance, not the artists’ earnings.
Why streams and chart units are not earnings
Equivalent album units, streams, and certification units describe different measures of recorded music consumption. None is a direct statement of the cash an artist received. A stream total alone cannot establish a royalty payment: that depends on agreements and rights shares among artists, labels, publishers, producers, and other rights holders, as well as other financial terms.

Eminem’s official site has reported cumulative RIAA career award totals and explained that RIAA certifications count eligible digital sales and on-demand streams under its program (Eminem’s official site). Those career-wide totals cannot be attributed to this feud, and they do not disclose the artists’ personal earnings from it.

The cited public figures do not establish either artist’s feud-specific revenue or profit after expenses. They also cannot isolate how much performance was caused by the feud, rather than what the releases might have achieved anyway. Nor do they provide comparable personal earnings for Eminem and MGK. The evidence shows that “Killshot” performed strongly and that Kamikaze had a major first week; it does not show that both artists made an outlandish amount of money.
