Elon Musk released an EDM single called “Don’t Doubt Your Vibe” on January 31, 2020, and said he wrote its lyrics and performed its vocals. The release drew substantial early attention on SoundCloud, but the available reporting documents one high-profile song—not an established singing career or proof that Musk became a famous singer.
What was “Don’t Doubt Your Vibe”?
It was a one-song electronic dance music single credited to Elon “EDM” Musk. Apple Music’s catalog lists the release date as January 31, 2020, and the label credit as ℗ 2020 Emo G Records. The catalog spells the title “Don’t Doubt ur Vibe,” while contemporary coverage commonly used “Don’t Doubt Your Vibe.” Apple Music’s listing documents the catalog entry.
CBS reported that Musk released the roughly four-minute track on SoundCloud. The FADER reported that he wrote and recorded it himself and noted artwork featuring the Cybertruck and Mars. These reports place the song in the context of Musk’s public persona and projects, rather than documenting the start of a broader music career.
Did Elon Musk sing the track?
Contemporary reports say Musk claimed that he did. The Independent reported his statement on January 31, 2020: “I wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals.” CBS likewise reported that he said he wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals. That is Musk’s reported account of his role; these reports do not independently verify the recording process.

How much attention did the song receive?
SoundCloud plays drew headlines in the days after release, but the figures are historical snapshots, not current listening totals. CBS reported more than 660,000 plays by mid-day Friday, January 31, 2020. Sky News reported on February 6, 2020 that the track had more than 2.6 million listens and ranked fourth among SoundCloud’s most popular tracks that week. The counts refer to different reporting times and should not be combined or treated as a present-day figure.
Those early numbers show that a celebrity release attracted attention. Plays and a weekly platform ranking do not, by themselves, establish musical acclaim or lasting popularity.

- Canadian label We Are Busy Bodies announces the official reissue of the seminal 1959 album, The Fascinating World of Electronic Music by the Dutch electronic music pioneers Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan. In fusing jazz and experimental electronics, the album’s playful compositions significantly predate other early renowned electronic music productions such as the 'Dr Who' theme, realised by Delia Derbyshire at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (1963), and Wendy Carlos’ 'Switched-On Bach' (1968.) Adored by David Bowie and sampled by the likes of DJ Premier, Cyprus Hill, Klaxons, RZA and David Holmes, the music of Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan holds a prominent and influential position in the ...

What was the reception?
Coverage recorded mixed reactions rather than a clear consensus. The Guardian’s January 31, 2020 review described a synthesized vocal over mid-tempo electronic production and criticized the track’s dynamics; that is the reviewer’s judgment, not an objective measurement. The Independent also characterized responses as mixed. The reporting supports a picture of a widely noticed, debated release, not a demonstrated breakthrough as a singer.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does one song make Musk a famous singer?
Not on the evidence available here. Musk released one documented single, publicly claimed songwriting and vocal performance, and received considerable early attention on SoundCloud. The cited coverage and catalog entry do not establish a sustained music career or measure his fame specifically as a singer. The headline’s “became a famous singer” framing is therefore stronger than what the record supports.
