At Drake’s second Perth show at RAC Arena on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, he pledged $20,000 each to two groups in the audience, according to PerthNow and The Music. That is a reported $40,000 in total; the coverage does not establish whether the promised money was ultimately paid in full.
What happened at Drake’s Perth concert?
Drake made the pledge during the second of his two Perth performances at RAC Arena, part of The Anita Max Win Tour. PerthNow reported that he first acknowledged fans holding a Canadian flag, then asked to hear from people from Perth and selected a local family. The other group included fans from Newfoundland, Canada.
PerthNow quoted Drake telling the groups: “But for both y’all, I’m gonna give you $20,000 each to go wherever you want in the world!” He added, “Because that’s what we do out here when you guys show love.” The Music also reported the giveaway. Neither outlet’s account specifies which dollar currency Drake meant, so the amount is best described simply as $20,000 for each group.
Who were the recipients?
PerthNow’s February 7 follow-up identified David Williams and his family as one of the selected groups. The outlet described Williams as a Mt Lawley father and lawyer, and reported that his son Stephen had encouraged him to attend. The reporting describes the other recipients as fans from Newfoundland. Because accounts use varying shorthand for the groups, “two groups” is the clearest description.

Was the $40,000 actually paid?
The available reporting establishes an onstage pledge, but not a completed payment. Williams told PerthNow that Drake’s manager texted him later that evening to say the team would follow up about payment. The article does not report a completed transfer, and it does not confirm the payment status for either group. It is therefore accurate to say Drake pledged or offered the money, rather than to state as established fact that both groups received it.

The concert took place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at RAC Arena in Perth. PerthNow published its initial account on February 6 and its interview with Williams on February 7; The Music also reported the giveaway on February 6.

The Music quoted Drake saying, “it’s 14,000 people inside one building, and we all got here safe.” That is Drake’s remark during the show, not an independently verified attendance count for RAC Arena.
