No. The $2.5 million figure was the amount Brandi Passante sought in her lawsuit against Hunter Moore, not the amount reported as awarded. TheWrap reported that the court granted default judgment and awarded $750 in statutory damages, attorney fees and a permanent injunction. A docket listing separately records a judgment in Passante’s favor on April 23, 2014.
What did Brandi Passante sue Hunter Moore for?
Passante, known as a buyer on A&E’s Storage Wars, filed Brandi Passante v. Hunter Moore et al. in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on October 26, 2012. The case number is 8:2012cv01866. The docket listing classifies the nature of suit as trademark.
In October 2012, TheWrap’s account of the complaint said Passante alleged that Moore published images and a video falsely presented as depicting her in pornographic situations. The report also said the complaint alleged that people who tried to view the video encountered a computer virus. These are allegations described in news coverage of the complaint, not findings established by that report.
Why is the lawsuit associated with $2.5 million?
Passante sought $2.5 million in actual and exemplary damages. That was her requested amount, not the reported award. In June 2013, TheWrap reported that the judge found her calculation unsupported and granted default judgment. It reported an award of $750 in statutory damages, attorney fees and a permanent injunction. The report said Passante could submit a renewed application for actual damages. What did the injunction and later docket entry establish?
According to TheWrap’s 2013 account, the permanent injunction directed Moore to remove remaining undisclosed video content and barred him from further dissemination. TheWrap also reported in January 2013 that Judge James V. Selna found Moore in contempt for failing to comply with an injunction to remove images. That report describes the procedural development; it is not a substitute for the underlying order.
The docket listing records a judgment in Passante’s favor against Moore dated April 23, 2014. That entry establishes the recorded date and outcome shown in the listing; it does not, by itself, establish further terms beyond those reported elsewhere.

Was Passante in The Most Hated Man on the Internet?
Netflix describes the 2022 title The Most Hated Man on the Internet as a three-part series about Moore, IsAnyoneUp.com and the people who acted to take the site down. Netflix’s overview confirms that broad subject, but does not establish whether Passante appears on screen or how much the series addresses her lawsuit. The overview alone cannot answer that more specific question.
