ZERO roster was reportedly exposed when a video appeared by mistake on Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan’s YouTube channel in September 2024. The footage was not shown to contain the entire launch roster, and the available reporting does not identify a staff member responsible. Bandai Namco later confirmed the launch lineup—but its American and European pages give different totals.
What was accidentally posted?
On September 13, 2024, MeriStation reported that a video had briefly appeared by mistake on Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan’s YouTube channel. Viewers captured part of it before it disappeared. MeriStation described footage featuring up to 20 new fighters; that is the report’s account of the clip, not a count confirmed by Bandai Namco. MeriStation’s report does not establish that the video showed every playable character.
The report listed Broly and forms, Super Garlic Jr., Dr. Wheelo, Turles, Slug and Giant Slug, Cooler and Metal Cooler, Android 13 and Fusion Android 13, Bojack and Full-Power Bojack, Janemba and Super Janemba, Tapion, Hirudegarn, and Goku as a child. These are the characters described in the captured footage, not proof that the video contained a complete roster.
Did Bandai Namco confirm the full launch roster?
Yes. On September 19, 2024, Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced the final 27-character reveal and described the game as having 181 playable characters at launch. Its announcement highlighted fighters from Dragon Ball Super and the Dragon Ball Z films. Bandai Namco America’s announcement is the primary source for that 181 figure.

Bandai Namco Europe’s full-roster article also presents the final 27, including Frieza Force Soldier, Cabba, Frost, Toppo, film characters, and Goku (Teen), but states a total of 182. Bandai Namco Europe’s roster article does not resolve why its total differs from the American publisher’s announcement. The counts should therefore be attributed rather than combined or treated as a settled single figure.
What is the current roster?
The two 2024 totals refer to the launch roster, not necessarily the game’s current playable-character count. Bandai Namco’s fighter page is the current official roster reference, while its news page records later updates and DLC releases. Consult those pages for the present lineup; a launch-era announcement cannot account for content added afterward.
