Yes—with an important qualification: TLC says Andrei announced at a family welcome party in Moldova that he and Elizabeth were moving there, and Elizabeth did not fully understand his speech because it was in Romanian. But the couple had discussed the possibility before the trip and agreed to visit Moldova to decide whether they both wanted to live there. The surprise was the announcement, not the existence of the idea.
What Andrei announced in Moldova
In its Season 9 retrospective, TLC says Elizabeth and Andrei had considered moving their family to Moldova. Elizabeth was open to supporting the idea but remained hesitant, so they agreed to visit and assess whether they both wanted to make the move.
During the visit, Andrei’s family hosted a welcome party. Andrei gave a speech in Romanian and announced that they were moving to Moldova. TLC says Elizabeth did not fully understand what he had said at the time. Its recap describes her as feeling as if she had arrived at someone else’s wedding; that is TLC’s account of her reaction, not a verified verbatim quotation.
Why the trip became a larger conflict
The announcement was not the only revelation TLC describes. The recap says Andrei told Elizabeth he had lost $75,000 in an investment property, a loss she had not known about. TLC reports that Elizabeth then changed her flight and left that evening with the children and her father. The recap connects her departure to the events of the trip; it does not establish that the move announcement alone caused her to leave.

What Elizabeth and Andrei decided afterward
According to TLC’s Season 9 overview, Andrei returned to Florida after a week apart. In their conversation there, Elizabeth said she did not want to move to Moldova at that time and valued the life they had built in Florida. She also asked to be included in business decisions going forward; TLC says Andrei agreed.
That later discussion shows the difference between the party announcement and the couple’s decision-making afterward. TLC’s account supports that Elizabeth opposed moving at that time and asked for more involvement in business decisions. It does not confirm a permanent relocation decision.

Which Moldova trip was this?
This is the Season 9 storyline, not the couple’s earlier Season 5 visit. Prime Video’s Season 5 listing describes a separate Moldova trip and a rocky first morning there. TLC’s Season 9 couples page also identifies the later Moldova visit as part of the season’s storyline.
The official retrospective identifies the announcement as a Season 9 event but does not give its precise episode number or original air date. Disney+ has a series listing that includes Season 9 episode summaries; the listing alone does not establish availability in every region.
