A German cinema listing was reported to have revealed a September 25, 2025 release date for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle. The date later appeared on the film’s official international schedule for Germany, but the available sources do not independently establish that the listing was an accidental leak.
What the reported listing said
On January 10, 2025, CBR reported that a German CineStar listing appeared to identify the film under the tentative title “Untitled Sony/Crunchyroll/Aniplex Event Film.” According to that report, the listing had no thumbnail, while its description identified the film as Infinity Castle and gave September 25, 2025 as its German opening date. IMDb News’ reproduction of the CBR report is the source for those details; the underlying CineStar listing was not independently retrievable.
That makes “reported leak” or “apparent leak” the careful description. The reporting indicates what the listing allegedly showed, but does not prove how or why the information appeared there.
Was September 25, 2025 the official German release date?
Yes. On March 5, 2025, the official Demon Slayer site published its international theatrical schedule and listed September 25, 2025 for Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland. The reported CineStar date therefore matched the later official schedule, although that confirmation does not establish that the earlier listing was posted accidentally. The official international release announcement also described Infinity Castle as the first film in a three-part theatrical trilogy adapting the anime’s concluding arc.

There was no single worldwide premiere date
The official announcement gave dates by territory, rather than one global opening. These are the relevant dates and formats specified in that announcement:
| Territory | Theatrical date | Screening language or format stated |
|---|---|---|
| United States and Canada | September 12, 2025 | Japanese-language screenings with English subtitles and English-dubbed screenings |
| Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland | September 25, 2025 | Not stated in the official announcement |
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment were named as distributors outside Japan and select Asian territories. The announcement’s North American language information should not be assumed to describe screenings in Germany or other markets; local schedules and formats can differ.

What happened after the original release
North American theatrical return

Streaming announcement
Crunchyroll announced that Infinity Castle I would begin streaming on July 28, 2026, at 8 a.m. The announcement said the second film was in production and had no release date at that time. Because that premiere date has passed, consult the service’s current, territory-specific catalog rather than treating the announcement as proof that the film is available to stream where you are. Crunchyroll’s streaming announcement records the original plan.

In 2025, Comscore estimated a $70 million North American opening and a $132.1 million worldwide opening weekend, as reported by The Associated Press. These are opening figures attributed to Comscore estimates, not final audited lifetime totals. AP also quoted Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian: “This performance by this particular film shows the unpredictability of the box office.” The AP report provides the figures and quotation.
