What Bette Midler said about Diane Keaton
Midler and Keaton starred together in the 1996 comedy The First Wives Club. In a tribute quoted by the Los Angeles Times, Midler praised Keaton’s humor and originality, and said she had none of the competitiveness she might have expected from a star.
“The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me. She was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was …oh, la, lala!”

Williams-Paisley played Keaton’s daughter in the Father of the Bride films. The Associated Press quoted her describing the experience as a personal highlight and thanking Keaton for her kindness, generosity, talent and laughter.
