Paramount renewed Dexter: Resurrection for season two, and its return is scheduled for October 30, 2026. The “one thing” behind Mike Lowe’s October 2025 complaint was that Dexter: Original Sin had not been renewed at the time—not a confirmed statement about its status today.
What was the complaint?
In his October 9, 2025 T3 opinion piece, “As a Dexter fan since day one, the show’s renewal is great news – except for one thing,” Mike Lowe welcomed the renewal of Dexter: Resurrection but was disappointed that Dexter: Original Sin had not received a renewal announcement. That was the complaint in the article’s 2025 context; it should not be read as a current update on Original Sin.

The contrast was between a continuing story focused on Dexter Morgan and a prequel exploring an earlier period in his life. Lowe’s point was that good news for one series left fans who wanted more of the other without an equivalent announcement.
What changed after the article?
Paramount announced on October 8, 2025 that Dexter: Resurrection had been greenlit for a second season and that its writers’ room was open. Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter Morgan, said: “Secondly… we’ve been greenlit for another season. There’s more to come!” Paramount’s September 8, 2026 announcement later scheduled season two to return on October 30, 2026. That is the announced date as of October 7, 2026, and schedules can change. What did the article say about the shows’ reception?
Lowe reported Rotten Tomatoes scores of 95% from critics and 90% from audiences for Dexter: Resurrection, compared with 70% from critics and 78% from audiences for Dexter: Original Sin. Those are figures reported in the T3 article on October 9, 2025, not verified live scores. They provide context for his enthusiasm about Resurrection and his disappointment about the lack of an Original Sin renewal announcement at that point; they should not be treated as current ratings.
