Tran objected to the messages being made public without her knowledge or notice. Strader later apologized for the video and said he regretted hurting her.
What happened after the breakup?
The breakup was discussed during the live After the Final Rose special on September 3, 2024, according to contemporaneous coverage. On September 10, Us Weekly reported that Strader had posted a roughly 13-minute Instagram video giving his account of the relationship and sharing screenshots of text exchanges. The outlet also reported that he apologized for showing sensitive material.
The episode became a public dispute not simply over whether Strader could explain his own perspective, but over his decision to publish private communications. The breakup had played out on television; the messages were private exchanges, and selected screenshots did not provide a complete record of the relationship.
Why did Jenn Tran object to the texts being shared?
In an interview on The Viall Files, reported by TV Insider on September 12, 2024, Tran said she felt betrayed and disrespected when she learned the messages had been released without notice. She drew a distinction between Strader discussing his own experience and making their private texts public.

“That is such an invasion of privacy,” Tran said, as quoted by TV Insider. Her stated objection was to the disclosure and lack of notice, rather than to Strader having a perspective on the breakup.
Did Devin Strader apologize?
Yes. In a statement reproduced by TV Insider in September 2024, Strader apologized for the video, said he was not proud of that lapse in judgment, and expressed regret for hurting Tran. The apology followed the video and Tran’s public criticism of the release of the messages.

How did the separate reporting about Strader’s past fit in?
In September 2024, Vanity Fair and TV Insider covered a separate thread of reporting about Strader’s past. Strader disputed allegations as they were characterized in media reports and made claims about the disposition of a restraining order. Those statements, and the allegations he disputed, should be understood as attributed claims—not as independently established facts here or as proof of what happened in his relationship with Tran.

The contemporaneous accounts establish the basic sequence: Strader shared a video with text screenshots, Tran objected to the privacy breach and lack of notice, and Strader later apologized for the video. They do not provide a complete, independently authenticated history of the couple’s messages. The relevant Instagram posts are not presented here as a current archive, and the available reports are not a full podcast transcript.

For that reason, the most useful distinction is between the existence of the video and its disclosed messages, Tran’s account of the harm caused by publication, and Strader’s explanation and apology. The screenshots should not be treated as the whole relationship record, and the separate reporting about his past should not be folded into the evidence about their breakup.
