Ormax Media reported ₹337 crore in gross box office across languages for the film that month. In a different market and time window, it ranked fourth in the Associated Press’s North American opening-weekend chart, with an estimated $5.1 million.
Did Devara: Part 1 top the box office?
Yes, in a specific sense: Ormax Media’s September 2024 India box-office report, published October 18, names Devara Part 1 the month’s top film, ahead of The Greatest Of All Time. Ormax reports ₹337 crore gross across languages for Devara.

That is a monthly ranking of films released in India, not a claim that Devara beat two blockbusters’ combined grosses. The headline-style comparison does not identify the two films, territory, or reporting period, and the cited figures do not establish it. Ormax says the two leading films, Devara Part 1 and The Greatest Of All Time, together made up nearly 60% of September’s ₹1,066 crore domestic box office; that combined share is not Devara’s individual total.
How much did Devara: Part 1 make?
There is no single universally reconciled total in the cited sources. Figures differ by territory, time period, accounting basis, and tracker. These are the reported values, with their scope kept intact:

| Source and scope | Reported figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Ormax Media, India, September 2024 | ₹337 crore gross | Across language versions; Ormax’s monthly report calls it the month’s top film. |
| The Numbers, worldwide database total; page accessed October 8, 2026 | $33,398,822 | Broken down by The Numbers as $5,600,000 domestic and $27,798,822 international; the site lists a September 27, 2024 domestic release. This is that database’s figure, not an audited universal final. |
| Sacnilk, worldwide tracker total; page dated September 22, 2024 | ₹428 crore gross | Reported as ₹351 crore India gross and ₹77 crore overseas gross; Sacnilk also reports ₹292.47 crore net. These are Sacnilk’s tracker figures. |
The totals from The Numbers and Sacnilk are not reconciled by the reviewed sources. Do not combine or treat them as interchangeable: one is expressed in dollars, the other in rupees, and their underlying reporting may differ. Ormax explicitly uses gross box office to provide a unified measure across languages and notes that figures for ongoing releases can be estimates subject to updates.
What happened in North America?
For the North American opening weekend, the Associated Press reported an estimated $5.1 million for Devara and ranked it fourth in its chart. The AP chart put Transformers One first at $9.3 million and Megalopolis ahead of Devara at $4 million. Those are weekend estimates in North America, not lifetime worldwide totals; they show that Devara did not top that chart, although its estimate was higher than Megalopolis’s.

A useful comparison needs the same market, time window, accounting basis, and treatment of language versions. A North American opening-weekend estimate cannot be compared directly with an India release-month gross or a worldwide lifetime tracker total. Ormax’s India figures aggregate language versions and use gross collections; other sources may report net figures or different territories and periods.
- Territory: identify whether the number covers India, North America, or the world.
- Time window: distinguish an opening day or weekend from a release month or lifetime total.
- Accounting: state whether the amount is gross or net.
- Language scope: say whether all language versions are included.
- Source and status: attribute the figure and label estimates or tracker totals as such.
Release and film context
The Numbers lists Devara: Part 1 as a 178-minute film produced in India, with Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi among its languages. It credits Koratala Siva as director and N. T. Rama Rao Jr. as lead performer. Its release dates vary by market: it lists September 27, 2024 for the US wide release and October 10, 2024 for the India wide release. These dates should not be collapsed into one global opening date. See The Numbers’ film listing.
