Karen McCluskey steps forward at Bree’s trial and says she killed Alejandro, taking the pressure off Bree and Gabrielle. The confession settles the case, although the season had already revealed that Carlos unintentionally killed Alejandro. Karen dies after the wedding celebrations.

Bree begins a relationship with her defense lawyer, Trip. The finale’s later glimpse places them in Louisville, where Bree enters politics and eventually wins election to the Kentucky state legislature.

The episode does not provide a later account of Susan’s life.

What does the hidden box mean?
After Susan leaves, the new owner of her house hides a box in a cabinet. Its contents are never shown, and the episode does not identify the new owner’s secret. Mary Alice’s closing narration returns to the series’ recurring idea that secrets cannot stay hidden. The box therefore works as an open-ended suggestion that Wisteria Lane’s cycle of mysteries will continue with its next residents—not as a clue to a mystery the finale solves.
