Disney has confirmed the fifth Descendants film. It is officially titled Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, brings back Kylie Cantrall as Red and Malia Baker as Chloe, and is planned for a summer 2026 Disney+ debut. Disney has not announced an exact release date or a region-by-region schedule.
Is Descendants 5 confirmed?
Yes. Disney Branded Television announced the fifth film on February 25, 2025, for Disney Channel and Disney+. At that point, Disney said production would begin soon and confirmed the return of Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker as the leads. Disney revealed the official title, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, on May 6, 2025, when it said the movie was in production.
The film follows Descendants: The Rise of Red, continuing the story of Red and Chloe. Disney’s later first look gives the new film a summer 2026 Disney+ debut window.
What is the story of Descendants: Wicked Wonderland?
The story continues after Red and Chloe’s time-traveling adventures, with much of the action set in present-day Wonderland. The early premise asks what “happily ever after” means for the two characters after the events of the previous film.

Disney’s first-look update adds a specific danger: Red and Chloe hide the time-traveling pocket watch in the Royal Vault, not realizing that Maddox Hatter is looking for it. He wants to use the watch to bend time and alter Wonderland’s fate. The setup carries forward the previous film’s warning: “There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.”

How does it connect to The Rise of Red?
Wicked Wonderland is a sequel, not a separate story: Red and Chloe return, and the plot picks up the consequences of their time travel. The present-day Wonderland setting and the pocket watch’s role connect the new threat directly to the previous film’s events.
Why Disney is continuing the franchise
Disney’s announcements point to a sizable audience for the series, but the figures describe different kinds of viewing and should not be treated as interchangeable. Disney Branded Television said the first three films each ranked as the most-watched cable movie of their respective years—2015, 2017 and 2019—among Kids 6–11 and Tweens 9–14, citing Nielsen/SCR. Separately, Disney’s 2026 first look reported nearly 1 billion viewing hours across linear and streaming in the United States for those first three films. It also cited more than 9 billion lifetime views for Descendants content across the Disney Channel Music and Disney Music Vevo YouTube channels through February 16, 2026; that is a YouTube figure, not a Disney+ view count.
