The original theatrical opening date was September 12, 2025. A separate official announcement set a North American theatrical return for March 6, 2026. Why Japan’s performance is being called record-breaking
Sony Group Corporation reported that, as of September 22, 2025, the film had attracted over 23.72 million audience members in Japan. That is a named corporate attendance figure, not a worldwide total and not a box-office estimate.

The Associated Press, using Comscore estimates, reported a $70 million North American debut and described it as the biggest domestic opening ever for an anime film at that time. AP also reported a $132.1 million weekend and a $177.8 million global total across North America and 49 international markets. Those dollar figures are Comscore estimates reported by AP in 2025, so they should not be read as the film’s final lifetime gross.
Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian summarized the result this way: “This performance by this particular film shows the unpredictability of the box office.” The unusually large Japanese attendance and the North American opening explain why coverage focuses on records, while the underlying measurements come from different sources and dates.

What Infinity Castle is—and how many films are planned
Infinity Castle is the first film in a three-film theatrical trilogy adapting the final arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The story follows Tanjiro and his allies into the climactic confrontation that concludes the saga. It is therefore not a standalone side story or a television-season replacement; the theatrical plan divides the final arc across three films.
Is the film back in theaters?
Yes, in the United States and Canada the official site announced a theatrical return beginning March 6, 2026. The return is distinct from the September 2025 opening and may have different showtimes, formats and language options at each theater. Other countries may schedule reissues independently, so a local cinema’s current listing is the reliable check for a screening after the original rollout.

When can you stream Infinity Castle?
The official theatrical release notices cited here do not establish one universal streaming date. Streaming availability is region-specific and can be announced separately from theatrical distribution.
