In a May 2026 interview, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said the sequel was in production but added, “We just don’t have a date yet.”
Has Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 got a release date?
No date is confirmed in the available announcements and interview reports. Purini’s May 22, 2026 comments are the clearest reported update: he said the second film was actively in production and that the studio wanted to bring it to fans quickly, but no date had been set. GamesRadar+ reported the interview; the quotations here are attributed to Purini as reported by that outlet.
That means a claim that Part 2 is “confirmed for 2027” or that 2027 is its earliest release window goes beyond what has been announced. Treat 2027 as speculation unless Aniplex, ufotable, Crunchyroll or another authorized distributor announces a date.
What is confirmed about the Infinity Castle films?
Infinity Castle is planned as a three-film adaptation of the final arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer manga. In the same May 2026 interview, Purini described it as a trilogy and said, “Infinity Castle was the first one. There’s two more to go.” Crunchyroll’s June 30, 2024 announcement also identifies the project as a trilogy.
#1 Best Overall
The first film opened theatrically in Japan on July 18, 2025, with the subtitle “Akaza Returns,” according to Aniplex’s June 28, 2025 announcement. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced the first film’s international schedule separately; the U.S. and Canada opening date was September 12, 2025. Those are Part 1 dates, not evidence of when Part 2 will arrive. The March 5, 2025 international release announcement lists dates by territory.
Why Part 1’s schedule does not predict Part 2
The first movie’s release pattern cannot establish a timetable for the next film. Its Japanese theatrical opening and subsequent international dates were separately announced, with different dates for different territories. No comparable Part 2 schedule is established in the cited announcements or May 2026 interview.
Rank #2
In September 2025, Purini had said that Aniplex and ufotable had not decided dates for the remaining films, according to GamesRadar+’s September 23, 2025 report. His later update in May 2026 confirms production was underway, but still gives no date.
What to watch for in an actual release-date announcement
- A confirmed date: Look for a direct announcement from the production committee, studio, or authorized distributor—not an unsourced predicted year.
- Which territory it covers: A Japanese theatrical date does not automatically mean the same opening date in the U.S., Canada, or other markets. Part 1’s release schedule was announced by territory.
- Whether the announcement concerns Part 2: Trilogy confirmation and Part 1’s dates do not provide a schedule for the second film.
Can you read the story while waiting?
The movies adapt the manga’s final arc, so reading the original series is one way to continue the story in print. The cited announcements do not specify exactly where Part 2’s adaptation will begin or end, so they do not establish a volume-by-volume match for the second film.
