What was the Infinity Castle leak?
The July 25 statement addressed unauthorized recordings, uploads and online distribution of the released Infinity Castle feature. The official portal said those activities violated copyright and other applicable laws and regulations. It also said the rights holders would pursue strict legal action, including civil and criminal measures. Read the official Demon Slayer portal statement.
ORICON reported that the warning was published in Japanese, English and Chinese. It also relayed the official statement’s warning that anonymous posters could still be traced; that is the rights holders’ claim, not a guarantee independently established by the report. ORICON’s July 25 report.
Was it the leaked trailer or footage from the full movie?
There were two distinct incidents in 2025. The May warning concerned a theater-only trailer shown after revival screenings of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. The July warning concerned unauthorized recordings and distribution of the Infinity Castle feature film.

What did the official warning say about penalties?
Aniplex’s May 11 notice described the Japanese legal context for the theater-recorded trailer. It said the conduct could carry up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to 10 million yen, or both. Those figures are the penalties quoted in that 2025 notice; they are not a complete account of current Japanese law, do not describe penalties in other countries, and are not individualized legal advice. The July portal statement did not give penalty figures. It described the conduct as violating copyright and other applicable laws and said the rights holders would pursue civil and criminal measures. See the July statement.

Aniplex’s May notice said that filming a movie inside a theater was a crime under Japan’s Film Piracy Prevention Law and that uploading such recordings to platforms including X, YouTube, TikTok or Facebook constituted copyright infringement. The July statement separately warned of legal action over piracy and illegal uploads of the feature. Applicable law and consequences depend on jurisdiction and the specific conduct; the notices do not establish a universal penalty for every viewer or uploader.
