DC’s U.S. comic-shop release slate for Wednesday, August 21, 2024 included new issues such as Gotham City Sirens #3, Superman #17, and Nightwing #117, alongside facsimiles and collected editions. This is a historical release guide, not a statement about what is currently in stock; solicitation dates and prices were advance listings and could change. The August 2024 solicitation schedule and a comic-shop weekly list provide overlapping, but not identical, title lists.
What DC comics came out August 21, 2024?
The following nine single issues appeared on the retailer’s August 21 weekly list. The solicitation schedule independently dates the six issues marked with an asterisk to that Wednesday.

The asterisk indicates an issue also explicitly dated August 21 in DC’s solicitation schedule. A weekly retailer list and an advance solicitation schedule are useful cross-checks, but they do not establish that every edition arrived at every shop on that exact date.
What were the featured stories?
Gotham City Sirens #3
Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy joined forces in this four-issue August event. Their ongoing series paused for the month and were scheduled to return in September. The third issue, written by Leah Williams with art by Matteo Lolli, centers on a dangerous hunting operation sponsored by an illegal energy drink. DC’s event announcement outlined the crossover.
Superman #17
DC’s solicitation pitched a Superman and Zatanna team-up following the events of Absolute Power #2. It listed a 32-page issue at a solicited U.S. cover price of $4.99, with a $5.99 card-stock variant. Those are advance-listing prices, not current prices or evidence of availability.

Titans #14
The solicited story paired the Titans with Swamp Thing against an infernal threat, with Trigon threatening the world. DC listed 32 pages at $3.99, plus a $4.99 card-stock variant.
Green Lantern: War Journal #12
Solicited as the series’ conclusion, the issue follows John Stewart and his allies against Olgrun and the Old Gods, while the Stewart family faces Star Shroud’s threat to Metropolis. The listing specified 32 pages at $3.99 and a $4.99 card-stock variant.

Nightwing #117
The solicitation called this the penultimate chapter of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s Nightwing saga, continuing the “Heartless” storyline.
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #30
Mark Waid wrote and Gleb Melnikov illustrated the issue, which teased the Trinity’s first mission. DC’s solicitation listed 32 pages at $3.99, with a $4.99 card-stock variant.

Which other issues did DC solicit for August 21?
Two additional single issues were dated August 21 in DC’s solicitation schedule, though they were not included in the retailer-list excerpt:
- Jenny Sparks #1 (of 6), launching a WildStorm series by Tom King and Jeff Spokes. Its solicitation introduced a conflict involving a rogue Captain Atom. DC listed 40 pages at $4.99, with a $5.99 card-stock variant.
- John Constantine, Hellblazer: Dead in America #8, in which Constantine is trapped in Hell and tries to trick his way out. The solicitation listed 28 pages at $4.99.
These, like the prices above, are solicitation details rather than confirmation of current availability.

Which collected editions and facsimiles were on the weekly list?
The retailer’s August 21 list also included these non-issue releases:

- Green Lantern by Geoff Johns TP Book 01 (2024 edition)
- Titans: Beast World TP
- Crisis on Infinite Earths #5 Facsimile Edition
The facsimile also appeared in the single-issue list because it is a reproduction of a particular comic issue; it is not a new chapter in the ongoing series. The sources do not establish current prices or stock for these releases. The solicitation schedule separately listed All New Collectors’ Edition #56 Facsimile Edition: Superman vs. Muhammad Ali for August 27, so it was not part of the August 21 slate.

What variant covers were announced for that date?
DC announced swimsuit variants for four August 21 issues:
- Nightwing #117, art by Belén Ortega
- Superman #17, art by Elizabeth Torque
- Titans #14, art by Saowee
- Wonder Woman #12, art by Guillem March
DC’s May 13, 2024 announcement named the artists and editions.
A second cover program evoked Kenner’s Super Powers toy line, which DC said was in stores from 1984 to 1986 and comprised three waves. August 21 editions were announced for Superman #17, Green Lantern: War Journal #12, Nightwing #117, and Titans #14. DC described the concept as an imagined, unreleased wave, with cover design and sculpting by Jason Geyer and spot illustrations by Alex Saviuk. The toy images were digital and not for sale; these covers did not announce new figures. DC’s May 14 announcement gives the cover details and its clarification.
