DC canceled retailer orders for the planned Red Hood comic series’ second and third issues after screenshots of apparent posts by writer Gretchen Felker-Martin circulated, TheWrap reported on September 11, 2025. The report does not establish that the posts were the direct cause of the cancellation.
What happened to the Red Hood comic?
TheWrap reported that DC canceled retailer orders for Red Hood #2 and #3. Issue #1 had already been released, and DC offered retailers credits for it, including copies they had already sold. TheWrap did not establish whether a collected edition or later availability would follow.
The series was a Batman spinoff centered on Jason Todd, also known as Red Hood. In the premise summarized by TheWrap, Todd travels to New Angelique, a New Orleans-like city, and becomes involved in a murder mystery with the Huntress.
What comments were reported?
TheWrap said screenshots showed apparent Bluesky posts attributed to Felker-Martin concerning Charlie Kirk’s death. The report quoted the screenshots as including “Thoughts and prayers you Nazi bitch” and “Hope the bullet’s okay after touching Charlie Kirk.” These are descriptions of screenshots reported by TheWrap, not an independent forensic verification of the original posts. TheWrap also reported that Felker-Martin’s Bluesky account was suspended.

What did DC say, and was the controversy the reason?
A DC spokesperson, not named in TheWrap’s report, said: “At DC Comics, we place the highest value on our creators and community and affirm the right to peaceful, individual expression of personal viewpoints. Posts or public comments that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with DC’s standards of conduct.”
TheWrap noted that the posts may not have been the direct impetus for the cancellation. Its report does not confirm DC’s internal decision-making, so the timing and controversy should not be treated as definitive proof of the company’s precise rationale.
