Is JAG coming back?
There is no confirmed JAG revival in the available reporting: no network or streaming service has announced one, and no project is identified as commissioned or in production. TV Insider reported on July 27, 2025, on Elliott’s remarks from the previous day, when he said he was interested in the idea and willing to participate. That is an expression of openness, not news that a reboot is underway. TV Insider’s report attributes his remarks to an Entertainment Weekly conversation at Comic-Con.

Would David James Elliott and Catherine Bell return?
Elliott has said he would be willing to take part, but the 2025 comments do not establish that he has been approached, cast, or attached to a current project. He also acknowledged that a reboot might use new actors and leave him out. Catherine Bell’s participation is likewise unconfirmed; the reporting does not say she has agreed to return.
Elliott played Harmon Rabb Jr., while Bell played Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie. Both returned as their JAG characters in the Season 11 premiere of NCIS: Los Angeles in 2019. Asked about bringing JAG back, Elliott told Entertainment Weekly, “I mean, there’s always a chance.” He said he would be open to participating, while making clear that a reboot could take a different direction with new actors. The remarks indicate interest, not a commitment by a studio, broadcaster, or cast.
His earlier comments in 2019
In a September 16, 2019 interview, Elliott said, “I never thought I would ever say this, but I would jump at the opportunity to bring Harm back to life again.” He pictured Harm as an executive or commanding officer aboard an aircraft carrier, commanding its air wing, and saw potential for further stories. In that same interview, he said he had never been approached to return as Harm. Those comments describe his thinking in 2019, not the status of a revival today. How the 2019 NCIS: Los Angeles reunion happened
Elliott said his return to the role in NCIS: Los Angeles grew out of his friendship with R. Scott Gemmill, a former JAG writer who worked on the spinoff. Elliott pitched Gemmill an idea, and they developed a different approach for the characters’ return. JAG premiered on NBC in 1995, moved to CBS for its second season, and ran through 2005. Bell joined Elliott in the series as Mac. The original show’s run and the pair’s later crossover are established milestones, but neither confirms a new production.
