On October 7, 2024, Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson’s jive to “Shout” scored 34 out of 40 and delivered the first nines of Season 33. What happened on Soul Train Night?
The October 7 episode opened a two-night themed week, pairing Soul Train-inspired performances with guest judge Rosie Perez. ABC announced Perez’s appearance, noting that she began her career as a dancer on the syndicated Soul Train, which ran from 1971 to 2006 and showcased R&B, soul, and hip-hop artists. The opening number was “T.S.O.P. (The Sound of Philadelphia)” by MFSB featuring The Three Degrees, choreographed by Luam and featuring guest dancer Popin’ Pete of The Electric Boogaloos. Derek Hough was also scheduled to lead a master class to Kool & the Gang’s “Get Down on It.” ABC’s episode preview

No. October 7 was the first half of a two-night week, and the show did not eliminate anyone that evening. The double elimination came after Hair Metal Night on October 8: ABC’s follow-up reported that Eric Roberts and Reginald VelJohnson were eliminated. Their results belong to the next episode, not Soul Train Night. For that October 8 episode, ABC reported scores of 46 for Roberts and Britt Stewart, 42 for VelJohnson and Emma Slater, and 70 for Joey and Jenna—the highest score that night.
