What was announced for the 2024 season?
Food Network announced on August 13, 2024, that Outrageous Pumpkins would return on September 29 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with Phillips as host. The announcement framed the season as an All-Stars championship; its announced premiere date has passed. The season was produced by Turn Card Content, LLC for Food Network. Food Network’s announcement also said the network’s Halloween lineup had drawn more than 28 million viewers the previous year. That is a network-reported figure, not an independent ratings analysis.
How did the All-Stars competition work?
The season paired 14 carvers in teams and challenged them to create elaborate pumpkin sculptures. Food Network highlighted gravity-defying structures and mechanical monsters with special effects. The season 5 gallery identifies a $50,000 grand prize and the All-Star Champion title, and names judges Terri Hardin, Deane Arnold, and Dan Langan. See the season 5 competitors and judges.
The series is a judged Halloween carving competition, not a documentary about pumpkin farming or carving techniques. Apple TV’s series listing describes it as a U.S. English-language reality series released in 2020, with artists using tools ranging from toothpicks to saws. How did season 5 differ from season 4?
The season number matters when comparing the format and prize. Food Network described season 4 as eight carvers competing for $25,000; that was a different season and prize from the 2024 All-Stars season.
