Crunchyroll’s Summer 2024 lineup included Tower of God Season 2 and NieR:Automata Ver1.1a (Cour 2), alongside a much broader slate of new and returning anime. The announcement is now a historical schedule, not a guide to what is streaming today: Crunchyroll published it on June 18, 2024, and last updated it on August 6, 2024.
What Crunchyroll announced for Summer 2024
The two headline titles offered different entry points. Tower of God continued an existing story, while NieR:Automata Ver1.1a continued its anime adaptation in a second cour. Crunchyroll’s announcement also named many other shows, so these were highlights rather than the full seasonal lineup. The page identified The Answerstudio as the studio for Tower of God Season 2 and A-1 Pictures for NieR:Automata Ver1.1a (Cour 2).

For Crunchyroll’s historical Summer 2024 lineup announcement, subtitle and dub times were listed separately. The announcement explained that a subtitle time meant subtitles were in production, while a dub time meant a dub was in production; it cautioned that schedules and dub languages could change.
How the two featured shows differ
| Show | What a viewer is coming back to | Studio listed by Crunchyroll | Territories listed in the announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tower of God Season 2 | A continuation of the Tower of God story. | The Answerstudio | North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS |
| NieR:Automata Ver1.1a (Cour 2) | A continuation of the anime adaptation’s story in a second cour. | A-1 Pictures | North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India |
The territory lists are not worldwide availability claims. The 2024 announcement provides a useful distinction for the listed regions, but it does not establish where either title streams now.
#1 Best Overall
Tower of God: a returning story
Tower of God is based on the series created by SIU. WEBTOON describes the source series with the genres action, dungeon adventure, and magical story, and gives it a Teen (13+) content rating. Those labels refer to the WEBTOON series, not a separate rating assessment of the anime. If you already follow the story, Season 2 was the lineup’s continuation pick.
NieR:Automata: a second cour
The NieR:Automata Ver1.1a entry was explicitly labeled Cour 2, making it a continuation rather than a standalone new-season starting point. The lineup page supplies the title and studio but does not assess animation quality or audience reception.

Historical subtitle and dub schedule
These are the airtimes shown in Crunchyroll’s announcement, in Pacific Time (PT), not a current or independently verified airing schedule.
| Title | Subtitles listed | Dub listed |
|---|---|---|
| Tower of God Season 2 | Sunday, 7:00 a.m. PT | Sunday, 1:00 p.m. PT |
| NieR:Automata Ver1.1a (Cour 2) | Friday, 9:00 a.m. PT | Friday, 1:00 p.m. PT |
Crunchyroll did not make these times a guarantee that every dub language would be available at the listed time; its note said schedules and dub languages were subject to change.

The lineup changed after its initial announcement
Crunchyroll updated its seasonal page after June 18. The update log records additions on June 26, including My Deer Friend Nokotan and My Wife Has No Emotion, followed by a larger set of additions on July 3, including Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, The Elusive Samurai, and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. On August 6, Crunchyroll removed Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2 after a hiatus notice. These notes document changes to the announcement page; they are not a complete independent record of every show’s eventual airing.

Square Enix’s North American catalog lists NieR:Automata – YoRHa Boys among books in the NieR video game universe. It may interest fans looking for related physical reading, but the catalog does not present it as a direct adaptation of or guide to Cour 2. Check the exact edition and retailer listing before buying.
