His mother announced his death after he went missing; a later report by The Olive Press placed the discovery in Lliria, in Valencia province, and attributed details about the circumstances to the Guardia Civil.
Who was Craig Ainsworth?
Ainsworth served as a Royal Marine before moving into private security, including bodyguard work, and later coaching, according to LBC. LBC reported that he worked for David and Victoria Beckham from 2013 to 2015, while the family lived in Holland Park, London. These details describe his reported employment; the sources cited here do not include employment records.
What was reported about his death in Spain?
The family announcement
On 7 April 2025, The Olive Press reported that Ainsworth’s mother, Sally Ainsworth, had announced his death in a social-media post after he went missing. LBC also reported her statement: “With the greatest sadness the world has lost Craig. He served in Afghanistan and he had PTSD.” The PTSD detail is her account as reported by the outlets, not a medical finding reviewed for this article.
What later reporting added
The Olive Press’s 7 April report said details of the death had not yet been revealed. Its 9 April follow-up placed the discovery in Lliria, Valencia province, after search attention had initially focused around Alicante and Barcelona. The follow-up attributed its account of the circumstances to information from the Guardia Civil. No police or coroner record was independently reviewed here, so those details should be understood as the outlet’s reporting of information attributed to the Guardia Civil.

How the reports developed
| Report | What it said | Attribution and limits |
|---|---|---|
| LBC, 7 April 2025; updated 10 February 2026 | Reported the family announcement, Ainsworth’s former Royal Marine service, private-security work, and Beckham-family employment from 2013 to 2015. | Includes the mother’s statement and reported biographical details; the date of the page’s later update does not itself establish a new official record. |
| The Olive Press, 7 April 2025 | Reported the family announcement while saying details of the death had not yet been revealed. | Its account at that time did not give the later reported discovery location or circumstances. |
| The Olive Press, 9 April 2025 | Placed the discovery in Lliria, Valencia province, and reported circumstances in a public park. | The outlet attributed the circumstances to Guardia Civil information; an official police or coroner record was not independently reviewed here. |
What is and is not established by these accounts
The family statement and the later location and circumstances are different kinds of information: one is a statement by Ainsworth’s mother reported by news outlets, while the other is a local outlet’s account attributed to the Guardia Civil. The available reporting describes Ainsworth as having PTSD through his mother’s statement, but it does not establish a medical record or independently document a cause of death. His military service or reported mental health should not be treated as proof of why he died.
