Why the bar lead changes the investigation
The clue brings the team to a bar, where agents go undercover. They arrive believing they are following Todd’s trail, but the operation reverses on them: Todd has anticipated their presence. A member of the group spots someone photographing two agents, suggesting the shooter has gained information about the task force while they are trying to track him.
That shift gives the episode its central tension. The team is no longer only interpreting clues left behind; its members may now be part of the clue-giver’s plan. The suspicion that Todd knows where they are—and who they are—makes the investigation feel personal and leaves the agents with a more immediate threat.

How episode 12 sets up the finale
“This Is His Signature” ends with the task force’s pursuit newly compromised. Todd’s apparent foresight and the photograph raise the stakes without resolving the investigation, carrying the danger forward rather than offering a final answer.
