In the official Bardock story, no: Bardock does not defeat Frieza. He confronts Frieza while trying to save Planet Vegeta, and Frieza destroys the planet. Calling him “SSJ Bardock” makes the question hypothetical: the official account places Goku’s Super Saiyan awakening later, in the battle with Frieza on Namek, and does not show Bardock transforming during his confrontation.
Give Bardock Super Saiyan power in a hypothetical matchup, and the available official accounts still do not establish a winner. The answer depends on which Bardock portrayal and which Frieza form you mean.
What happens when Bardock confronts Frieza in the official story?
The Dragon Ball Official Site describes Bardock as a Saiyan warrior who fights to the end trying to save Planet Vegeta from Frieza. After Bardock attacks, Frieza answers with an energy ball that engulfs the planet. The story’s outcome is clear: Bardock does not beat Frieza.
The official character entry identifies the TV special as Bardock’s first appearance and credits Dragon Ball Tale 307. Read the official Bardock character entry.

Does the story show Bardock becoming a Super Saiyan?
Not in the cited account of his confrontation with Frieza. The official retrospective on the Namek battle places Goku’s Super Saiyan awakening later, during his fight with Frieza: “The battle against Frieza continued to rage out of control until Goku finally awakened into the warrior of legend, the Super Saiyan!” That narration concerns Goku’s transformation on Namek; it does not establish a Super Saiyan transformation for Bardock in the Planet Vegeta story.

Could a hypothetical Super Saiyan Bardock win?
The official sources cited here do not give a definitive answer. They describe Bardock’s failed attempt to stop Frieza and Goku’s later transformation, but do not directly compare a Super Saiyan Bardock with a particular version of Frieza. A confident yes-or-no verdict would need to specify the continuity, Bardock portrayal, and Frieza form, then support the comparison with evidence for those versions. The sources do not provide power levels or other figures that settle the matchup.
- Canon event: Bardock confronts Frieza and fails to save Planet Vegeta.
- Hypothetical: Super Saiyan Bardock is an added assumption, not the transformation shown in the cited Frieza confrontation.
- Matchup variables: “Frieza” is not a single specified form here, and the official accounts do not assess the hypothetical fight.
Does the Episode of Bardock storyline change the answer?
A separate official announcement for Super Dragon Ball Heroes refers to an Episode of Bardock storyline featuring Bardock facing Chilled. That is a distinct storyline reference; the announcement does not establish the outcome of a hypothetical Super Saiyan Bardock-versus-Frieza fight.
