The “one of his best after Kabali” praise was not an established critic consensus. A Times of India report relayed it from an unnamed viral review shared on X, four days before Coolie opened in theatres on 14 August 2025. It is best read as pre-release buzz, not a verdict on the film.
What the early review actually claimed
Times of India’s ETimes published its report on 10 August 2025, describing a “viral first review” on X that praised Rajinikanth’s performance as one of his best after Kabali. The report did not identify the person who wrote the post, and it did not establish that the claim represented fans or critics generally. Read the dated ETimes report.

That distinction matters: the line is a performance-specific compliment attributed to an unidentified post, not a named critic’s assessment or an overall recommendation of the film.
What changed after release
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth, was released theatrically on 14 August 2025. Sun Pictures’ official film page lists Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna and Aamir Khan among the cast. The early-review item predates that release, so it cannot be treated as a post-release review. See Sun Pictures’ official film page.
