English comedian and dog behaviouralist Tony Knight died at 54 after an accident at the Rock&Cars festival in Lavaur, southern France, on June 7, 2024. News reports said a falling tree branch struck him; the family statement quoted in coverage called it a “terrible accident” but did not specify its cause.

Knight was attending the Rock&Cars festival with a friend when the accident occurred, according to a statement from family member Joanne Allen reproduced by 7NEWS. The report gives June 7, 2024 as the date of the accident. Fox News and Entertainment Tonight described reports that a falling branch struck Knight.
The cause should be understood as reported in news accounts, not as an official investigative finding. Entertainment Tonight quoted the family’s description of a “terrible accident” without specifying the physical cause; Fox News attributed the branch account to French media. The available accounts do not establish an official conclusion about how the branch fell or whether anyone was at fault.
Who was Tony Knight?
Knight was an English comedian who made Australia his home and also worked as a dog behaviouralist. He performed a comedy show called Mad Dogs and an Englishman in Australia and overseas, according to Chortle.

Allen described Knight’s work with dogs in a statement reproduced by 7NEWS: “His passion was dogs, and he helped people all over the world with his classes both in person, online, on radio and television, ebooks, and more.”
What did his family and the festival say?
Allen wrote that Knight had been in France only a few days before his death, attending the festival with his friend Pascall, and “never made it home,” according to 7NEWS. She also described him as charismatic, funny, passionate, and loved.

Rock&Cars organizers expressed their condolences in a statement reproduced by Chortle: “Our hearts go out to our friends affected by this terrible tragedy.”
