Spoilers for Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2, including Episode 10. In the five episodes set around the Sekai Taikai in Spain, the series delivers tournament action, puts its large cast in the same place, and ends in a deadly brawl. In his November 15, 2024 review for Gizmodo, Germain Lussier lists eight things he liked and four that fell short. His strongest praise is for the action and character moments; his main reservations concern the increasingly melodramatic romance and several abrupt plot detours.
Season 6 is Cobra Kai’s final season: Netflix released its 15 episodes in three parts, and all three are now available. Part 2 takes Miyagi-Do to Spain for the Sekai Taikai, the international tournament that drives these five middle episodes. The event’s escalating violence culminates in Episode 10, when a student dies. Netflix’s season guide provides the release and story context.
Here is Lussier’s assessment, grouped by what he praised and what he thought weakened the installment. These are one reviewer’s judgments, not a claim about audience consensus.
Eight things Lussier liked
1. The Sekai Taikai gives the action a purpose
Lussier likes that the tournament’s events and choreography do more than supply fights: they also move the plot and test the characters. That combination makes the competition feel consequential rather than like a string of interchangeable matches.

2. The new rivals broaden the field
Axel, Zara, Kwon, and Sensei Wolf bring fresh opponents and personalities into the story. Lussier welcomes the expanded field because it gives the tournament new sources of conflict beyond the rivalries viewers already know.
3. The tournament keeps the ensemble together
Putting the characters in one location gives them space to interact, bond, and change. Lussier sees the shared setting as a strength: the tournament can serve as a pressure cooker for the whole ensemble, not just a backdrop for the fighters.

4. Terry Silver’s return is entertaining, if familiar
Lussier enjoys Silver’s reappearance, while acknowledging that bringing him back revisits a familiar kind of threat. The pleasure is in seeing the character re-enter the conflict; the reservation is that the move is somewhat repetitive.
5. Miguel supports Robby despite his own ambitions
Lussier singles out Xolo Maridueña’s physical performance and emotional range. He especially values Miguel’s decision to support Robby even as Miguel has his own claim to the captaincy. The moment gives Miguel’s competitive drive room to coexist with loyalty.

6. Daniel’s dream makes Miyagi’s past feel vivid
A vision of Mr. Miyagi affects Lussier emotionally and offers a glimpse of a younger, more brutal version of the character. He also notes the use of a deepfake and that it was approved by Pat Morita’s family; the available account does not establish further details about the approval.
7. The Episode 10 brawl is a forceful cliffhanger
The tournament’s simmering confrontations erupt into a chaotic fight, bringing several conflicts together and leaving the story in a precarious place. Lussier finds the cliffhanger effective despite its fatal consequence: Kwan dies in the brawl. Netflix Tudum’s ending retrospective confirms that a student dies. Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg said, “All the big bads are still in play,” naming Kreese, Silver, Sensei Wolf, and Master Kim Da-Eun as the characters are “left in tatters at the end of Episode 10.”

8. Chozen and Kim’s unexpected connection works
Lussier finds the Chozen-Kim romance funny and unexpectedly appealing. He also likes that their connection has a story function, helping Kim guide Tory as a teacher rather than existing only as a comic or romantic aside.

1. Kwan’s death removes a compelling antagonist
The same cliffhanger that Lussier praises also costs the story a character he had grown interested in. He regrets losing Kwan just as the antagonist was becoming compelling, a trade-off that makes the ending dramatic but also cuts short a promising presence.

2. Robby and Tory’s romance becomes too melodramatic
Lussier thinks the star-crossed tension between Robby and Tory is pushed too hard. Their relationship repeatedly disrupts their performance in the tournament, so the romantic conflict can feel like an obstacle to the competition rather than a productive part of it.
3. The pregnancy scare is an abrupt detour
Johnny and Miguel suddenly fly to Los Angeles over a pregnancy scare, which is then resolved quickly. Lussier sees the excursion as a sharp diversion from the tournament with little payoff for the time it takes away from the Spain storyline.
4. Silver’s kidnapping scheme strains plausibility
Lussier considers Silver’s kidnapping plot over the top and questions what it adds to the story. The scheme does provide an excuse to see more of Barcelona, but he finds that benefit insufficient to make the plot feel convincing or necessary.
Where Part 2 leaves the season
Part 2’s appeal, in Lussier’s reading, lies in its collision of tournament spectacle and character history: the new rivals raise the stakes, the shared setting gives the ensemble room to move, and Miguel’s support for Robby provides a grounded emotional counterpoint. Its weaker turns are the relationship drama that repeatedly interrupts the competition and diversions that feel abrupt or excessive. The final brawl pushes the story into the last five episodes with the tournament in chaos and its main conflicts unresolved.

For viewers catching up, Netflix remains the streaming home, according to Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Cobra Kai page. The series is complete, so Part 2 is one installment in a finished 15-episode season rather than an ongoing release.
