The series premiered in Japan on July 2, 2025. Its unusual premise and 45-minute first episode gave it a distinctive launch, though “sets the bar high” is an opinion, not an objectively established ranking.
What is Clevatess about?
The story brings together three figures whose interests and histories do not naturally align: Clevatess, one of the Lords of Dark Beasts; Alicia, a hero he personally slew and later revives; and an orphaned humanoid baby described in the series’ official synopsis as the last hope to save a dying world. The question at the center is what fate awaits the unlikely trio now bound together.
That mix of a feared supernatural ruler, a resurrected adversary and a vulnerable child gives the fantasy setup a strong source of tension. It offers dark imagery and danger, but also makes the group’s relationship—and the responsibility attached to the baby—central to the hook.
When did the anime premiere, and how was it released?
Crunchyroll reported that the Japanese TV anime premiered on July 2, 2025. The first episode, titled “The Lord of Dark Beasts,” was 45 minutes long. In a July 4, 2025 launch report, Crunchyroll said Premium Members could stream it in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Those are launch-time details, not a guarantee of current access; check the current Crunchyroll listing for availability in your territory.

Who made the series?
Kiyotaka Taguchi directed the anime, with animation by Lay-duce. The credited key staff also includes Keigo Koyanagi for series composition, Soichiro Sako for character designs and Nobuaki Nobusawa for music. These credits identify the production team; they do not, on their own, establish how the show compares in quality with other anime from Summer 2025.
Is Clevatess based on a manga?
Yes. The anime adapts Yuji Iwahara’s manga, which Crunchyroll reported began publishing on LINE Manga in August 2020. A July 2, 2024 Crunchyroll report said the series had then been collected into seven volumes, and noted a Kadokawa horizontal edition with two collected volumes at that time. Those counts are dated and should not be treated as current. For a print reading route, look for collected editions of Clevatess by Iwahara; edition language, current volume count and stock depend on the retailer and market.

That is a changing platform rating and rating count, not a critic score or an independent measure of quality.
