Claro TV+ expanded its Brazilian streaming catalog on September 1, 2022, adding Disney+ and Star+ to its operator platform. The announcement concerned distribution and billing—not Claro ownership of Disney content. Star+ later ended as a separate service: on June 26, 2024, its entertainment and ESPN-related programming moved into Disney+. In Brazil today, Claro customers generally receive the consolidated Disney+ service, subject to their plan and current commercial terms.
What Claro announced in 2022
The 2022 expansion added two existing Disney streaming products to Claro TV+ in Brazil. Disney+ supplied Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic programming. Star+ was then a separate service focused on general-entertainment films and series, adult-oriented titles and ESPN-related sports content.
Claro TV+ functioned as the distributor and aggregation layer. Depending on the customer’s package, Disney+ and Star+ could be included or contracted as add-ons, with access through Claro’s connected-TV ecosystem and potentially a consolidated Claro bill. The announcement did not mean that every Claro TV+ subscriber automatically received both services.
The original launch is documented in Claro’s September 1, 2022 expansion report. Eligibility, equipment, prices and contract terms varied by plan, customer type and location within Brazil.

How billing and eligibility worked
- Some Claro TV+ packages could include a Disney service; other customers had to add it.
- Claro could place the charge on the customer’s residential or mobile-service bill instead of requiring a separate payment relationship with Disney.
- The Disney account still had its own login, viewing rules and service terms.
- Canceling or changing a qualifying Claro plan could remove an included benefit or stop Claro-billed access.
- A bundle was not automatically cheaper than a direct Disney+ subscription; compare the total monthly cost and any promotional period.

What happened to Star+
Star+ is no longer a standalone Brazilian app. Disney consolidated its catalog into Disney+ on June 26, 2024. Claro’s explanation of the change is available at Claro’s Star+ transition page.

That means a current customer should install or update Disney+, not search for a separate Star+ application. General-entertainment programming and ESPN-related offerings now appear within the newer Disney+ product, but the exact catalog, live events, advertising and channels depend on the country, plan and rights for a particular title.

See Claro’s current Disney+ Brazil page for the live offer. Streaming rights are competition- and country-specific, so neither tier should be interpreted as a promise of every ESPN event or every linear ESPN channel in a Claro television package.
How to activate Disney+ through Claro
- Sign in to Minha Claro.
- Open Minhas Assinaturas or the Claro TV+ subscription area.
- Select Disney+ and choose Ativar.
- If Claro sends an activation link by SMS or email, open that link instead.
- Create a Disney account or connect the existing account associated with the offer.
- Install or open Disney+ on a supported smart TV, Claro device, streaming player, phone, tablet or computer.
- Check the account page to confirm the intended Disney+ tier before watching.
Claro’s activation guidance is at Claro TV+ activation. On supported 4K decoders, Claro says Disney+ may also be available through channel 835; channel numbers are equipment- and market-specific, not universal.

Check whether a Claro offer is permanent or promotional, whether it requires qualifying internet or mobile service, and whether other household subscriptions would be duplicated. A sports viewer should compare the exact ESPN channels and events rather than relying on the old “Star+ included” wording.

The activation message never arrives
- Open Minha Claro directly and confirm that the subscription is active.
- Check the registered phone number and email address.
- Do not create a second paid Disney account before confirming the Claro entitlement.
- Contact Claro if an active benefit has no activation option.
An existing Disney account is not recognized
Use the same email address linked to the Disney account. Check whether the old subscription is billed by Disney or Claro; leaving both active can create duplicate charges.

The Star+ app is missing
This is expected after the 2024 consolidation. Update or install Disney+ and search there for the desired entertainment or sports title.
A program or event is unavailable
- Confirm the account’s country and selected tier.
- Check whether the item is live, on demand or a separate Claro linear-TV channel.
- Remember that catalogs and sports rights can change independently of the Claro package.
4K playback does not work
Premium eligibility is only one requirement. The television, decoder, HDMI connection, network and individual title must also support 4K/HDR. A 4K Claro box does not make every Disney+ program 4K.
Bottom line for Brazilian viewers
Claro’s September 2022 deal made Disney+ and Star+ available through Claro TV+ as bundled or add-on services, with the attraction of one operator relationship and, in some cases, one bill. The current product is different: Star+ has been absorbed into Disney+, and plan-specific pricing, ESPN access, streaming limits and equipment rules now determine what a subscriber actually receives. Choose Claro TV+ when aggregation and live television matter; choose direct Disney+ when independent billing and the streaming service alone are the priority.
