The City of Perth’s 2026 Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival ran throughout April and has now concluded. Announced on 25 March, it was set to feature more than 100 events and activities exploring the city’s stories, places and communities. The City said nearly all events were free, with advance booking recommended for some.
What was the Boorloo Heritage Festival?
The annual festival celebrates Perth’s natural, cultural and built heritage. Its 2026 program brought together walks, talks, tours, exhibitions, performances, cultural storytelling and activities for children. The City’s announcement described more than 100 events and activities; that was a program figure, not an attendance count or audited final tally. The City of Perth’s 25 March announcement introduced the April program.
The festival’s name uses Boorloo, the Whadjuk Nyoongar name for Perth. Lotterywest’s 2024 feature describes the festival as recognising the Traditional Owners who cared for Boorloo before it became the city. First Nations culture is living culture, not only a subject of historical programming. The official 2026 recap included a Whadjuk Nyoongar cultural walking tour among its examples. Lotterywest’s festival feature provides that cultural context.
What was included in the 2026 program?
The announcement highlighted several events and themes, but these are examples rather than a complete account of everything that took place:

The official recap also noted Boss Crew in Boorloo, featuring First Nations artists and emerging performers; a local-history book launch; and an exhibition about Perth’s queer heritage. These examples reflect different parts of the program, not every community or event. Visit Perth’s recap lists events and activities from the festival.
Was the festival free?
The City said nearly all events were free, not that every event had no charge. It recommended booking ahead to avoid disappointment, so cost and booking requirements depended on the individual activity. The festival is over, and the available official sources do not establish a complete event-by-event price or booking list.
