Cineplex’s 2026 National Popcorn Days offer ran January 16–19, 2026, and has expired. During the promotion, Scene+ members with a valid movie ticket could get one free small popcorn by scanning their membership card at concessions on the date of their screening.
How the 2026 Cineplex popcorn offer worked
Cineplex said the promotion was available at its theatres across Canada from January 16 through January 19, inclusive. To qualify, you needed both a Scene+ membership and a valid ticket for a movie screening on one of those dates.
- Have a valid ticket for a screening dated January 16, 17, 18 or 19, 2026.
- Visit concessions on the same day as that screening.
- Scan your Scene+ membership card to receive one free small bag of Cineplex popcorn.
The offer applied to the screening date: a ticket for a showtime on a promotion date was required, and redemption was at concessions that same day. See Cineplex’s January 12, 2026 announcement for the campaign conditions.
Can you still claim the free popcorn?
No. The January 16–19, 2026 promotion is over. It cannot be redeemed now; check Cineplex’s Popcorn Day page or current showtimes and deals for any newer offer. The past promotion is not evidence that a replacement deal is available.

What Cineplex said about National Popcorn Day
Cineplex Chief Marketing Officer Sara Moore described popcorn as part of the moviegoing ritual. The company also reported that popcorn was its top snack choice in 2025 and that consumption exceeded 2024 levels; Cineplex did not provide an exact figure for that comparison in its announcement.
For separate historical context, Cineplex said in January 2025 that more than 6.1 million popcorns topped with real butter were sold in 2024. That figure concerns the prior year, not the 2026 free-popcorn promotion. See the January 2025 announcement.
