Ciara and Russell Wilson met in March 2015, became engaged less than a year later and married in July 2016. They have since welcomed three children together, while Ciara’s son Future Zahir has been part of their family since before the relationship. 2015: How Ciara and Russell Wilson met
ELLE dates their first meeting to March 26, 2015, at a University of Wisconsin basketball game. The following month, they appeared together at a White House event honoring Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. They also attended the BET Awards in June. ELLE’s September 2026 timeline recounts those early public milestones.
In later recollections reported by Entertainment Tonight, Wilson said he was “sold” on Ciara after meeting her. Ciara described feeling calm and noticing his consistency and his connection with her son. Those are their personal accounts of the beginning of the relationship.
Wilson’s account of their decision to wait until marriage
In July 2015, Wilson spoke at San Diego’s Rock Church about the couple’s decision to abstain from sex until marriage. It was his account of their personal choice; it is not a prescription for other couples. ELLE reproduced his remark: “If there’s a 10, she’s a 15.”

2016: Engagement and wedding
Engagement announced in March
Wilson announced their engagement on March 11, 2016, after proposing during a trip to the Seychelles, according to contemporaneous coverage. The Seattle Seahawks’ report reproduced his announcement: “She said Yes!!! Since Day 1 I knew you were the one.” The Seahawks’ engagement report documented the news at the time.
Married at Peckforton Castle
The couple married on July 6, 2016, at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. On the wedding day, the Seahawks reported Ciara’s post: “We are The Wilsons!” The team’s wedding report confirms the date and venue.

2016–2023: Building a family
Ciara announced in October 2016 that she and Wilson were expecting their first child together. Their daughter Sienna was born April 29, 2017, and their son Win was born July 23, 2020. Their third child together, son Amora, was born in December 2023, according to ELLE and Entertainment Tonight.
Ciara’s son Future Zahir, from a previous relationship, was already part of her life when she met Wilson. Both have spoken publicly about Wilson’s bond with him; Wilson has described realizing he would take responsibility for the boy. These are their own accounts of a family relationship, not details to infer beyond what they have shared.

Why Not You Productions
In 2018, Ciara and Wilson announced Why Not You Productions. They described an interest in scripted and unscripted projects, including stories intended to inspire positive change.
The picture book Why Not You?
In March 2022, they released Why Not You?, a children’s picture book about confidence and dreams. The Random House Children’s Books catalog lists Ciara and Russell Wilson as authors, with JaNay Brown-Wood as a contributing author and Jessica Gibson as illustrator. The catalog describes it as a picture book for ages 4–8.

2026: Tenth anniversary and news of another child
Ciara and Wilson marked their tenth wedding anniversary on July 6, 2026. ELLE reports that Ciara posted an anniversary tribute and that Wilson discussed the milestone with People later that month.
On September 6, 2026, they announced they were expecting a child. The announcement means they are expecting their fourth child together and fifth overall; it is a pregnancy announcement, not a report of a birth. Ciara’s wording, as reported by ELLE, was: “One more person to love.”
