Yes. A high-quality unauthorized copy of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey was reported on X over the July 25–26, 2026 weekend. The post and hosting account were reported removed after Universal said it had begun takedown procedures. The coverage does not establish that the film remains available online today, or how the copy was obtained.
What happened when The Odyssey leaked on X?
Reports published on July 27–28 described an X post linking to an apparent high-quality copy of the film. The Guardian reported that a post flagging the leak passed 3 million views before the account hosting the copy was suspended, and said the copy was taken down: The Guardian’s report. Variety described an amplifying post that passed 2.1 million views in two and a half hours; it reported that the film was replaced with a takedown notice and the hosting account suspended: Variety’s report.

Those figures count views of posts drawing attention to the leak, not verified views of the complete movie. They are time-specific measurements reported at different points in the event, so they should not be treated as a tally of people who watched the film.
Is The Odyssey full movie still on X?
The reporting says the apparent copy was taken down and the hosting account suspended. It does not confirm whether a copy is available now; the reported takedown is not evidence of current availability either way. The coverage did not identify an authorized online release, so the incident should not be confused with a legitimate digital launch.

What did Universal say?
Universal said: “We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights.” The statement was reproduced by both The Guardian and Variety.
How was the leaked copy obtained?
The source of the bootleg was unknown in the available reporting. No evidence established whether it came from a theater recording, a studio screener, a digital distribution copy, or any particular person. Naming a source or method would therefore be speculation.

What is Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?
Universal describes the film as Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s foundational saga, produced with Emma Thomas and their Syncopy team: Universal’s film page. Readers interested in the story behind the film can read Homer’s Odyssey; the epic is source material, not a copy of the movie.
The film’s theatrical presentation also drew attention: in a July 20, 2026 announcement, IMAX called it the first theatrical release shot entirely with IMAX 70mm film cameras. IMAX reported that its 70mm presentation was available at 41 locations worldwide at the time. These are IMAX’s claims, and the limited location count means the format was not available at every theater: IMAX’s announcement.
