Luc Besson’s Dracula, starring Christoph Waltz, opened to a reported $4.5 million in the United States and Canada, setting Vertical’s biggest opening weekend to date. The February 6, 2026 release played in 2,050 theaters, according to an IMDb News/CBR report that attributed the figures to Variety.
Which Dracula movie set the record?
The film is Dracula, directed by Luc Besson and starring Caleb Landry Jones as Dracula, Christoph Waltz, and Zoë Bleu. Vertical’s official synopsis describes a 15th-century prince who becomes Dracula after losing his wife and seeks to reunite with her. Vertical’s film page provides the synopsis and cast.
How much did it make, and what record did it break?
The opening-weekend report put the film’s North American gross at $4.5 million from 2,050 theaters. It compared that result with the reported $2.5 million opening for We Bury the Dead, Daisy Ridley’s film released in January 2026. On that basis, Dracula surpassed Vertical’s previous opening-weekend record.
Those figures come from an IMDb News/CBR article dated February 8, 2026, which attributes the box-office results to Variety; they are not figures published by Vertical. The reported theater count is for Dracula; the cited report passage does not give a comparable count for We Bury the Dead, so it does not establish a like-for-like per-theater comparison.
