Christmas on the Coast returned to Coogee Beach Reserve on Sunday, 15 December 2024, with a free evening program. It is no longer planned under that name at Coogee: on 10 June 2025, Cockburn Council resolved to move the event to Atwell Reserve and rename it Christmas on the Green. The sources available do not confirm a 2026 date or program.
What was Christmas on the Coast?
Christmas on the Coast was a City of Cockburn community event held at Coogee Beach Reserve. Its inaugural edition took place on 17 December 2023. The City later reported that about 6,000 people attended that first event.
For its 2024 return, the City scheduled the free event for Sunday, 15 December, from 4pm to 9pm at Coogee Beach Reserve. The program included a 1 km interactive Christmas trail, a giant surfing Santa, light displays, performers, food vendors and family activities.
Mayor Logan Howlett described the trail as “a wonderful experience accessible to those with prams and wheelchairs.” That statement refers to the trail; it does not establish that every part of the event site was fully accessible.

What happened at the inaugural 2023 event?
PerthNow’s preview of the 17 December 2023 event listed carols, light displays, a themed trail, a photo booth, craft activities and food trucks. It also announced a 7:15pm performance by the Murphy Brothers. The City’s later report put attendance at about 6,000.
Is it still at Coogee Beach?
No. At its 10 June 2025 meeting, Cockburn Council resolved to move the event to Atwell Reserve and rename it Christmas on the Green. That decision supersedes the earlier Coogee Beach location for future planning under the event’s new name.

Are there dates or details for 2026?
The sources available do not confirm whether a 2026 edition is scheduled, or provide a date, venue details or program. Check the City of Cockburn’s current event information for any announcement. Do not rely on the 2024 Coogee schedule as a guide to a future edition.
