Chicago Fire Season 15 brings two early departures and a new series regular—but the available announcements do not confirm that the newcomer is replacing Joe Cruz. Joe Miñoso returns for multiple episodes to close Cruz’s story, while Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal exits after one episode. Da’Vinchi joins as firefighter candidate Marcus Burke.
Who is leaving Chicago Fire in Season 15?
Joe Miñoso as Joe Cruz
Joe Miñoso is leaving the series during Season 15. He will appear in multiple episodes before Cruz’s storyline concludes, rather than departing at the season premiere. Peacock describes Miñoso as returning for a few episodes; TheWrap reported that the episodes will bring the character’s arc to a close. TheWrap’s July 29, 2026 report says Miñoso was recurring in Season 1 and became a series regular in Season 2.

Dermot Mulroney as Dom Pascal
Mulroney is also leaving early in Season 15. Peacock says he appears in one episode to wrap up Pascal’s story, and TV Insider reports that his exit is written into the season premiere. TheWrap reported the departure on July 31, 2026.
Is Da’Vinchi replacing Joe Cruz?
Da’Vinchi joins Season 15 as a series regular, playing Marcus Burke, one of the new firefighter candidates. That makes him a new regular amid the departures, but the available reporting does not identify Burke as Cruz’s one-for-one replacement. A new character joining the cast is not, by itself, confirmation that the character takes over Cruz’s role or place in Firehouse 51.

TV Insider’s Season 15 premiere report places Burke among the firefighter candidates and says Cruz leaves after a handful of episodes. It also describes the Season 14 finale cliffhanger, which left most of Firehouse 51 facing a massive fire.
What else is changing behind the scenes?
Victor Teran takes over as showrunner from Andrea Newman, according to TheWrap’s report on Miñoso’s departure. That is a leadership change behind the camera, distinct from the actors’ exits and Da’Vinchi’s addition to the cast. The reports do not establish that the actors’ departures are connected to the showrunner change.
When does Chicago Fire Season 15 premiere?

Brandon Larracuente, who plays Sal Vasquez, described the personal and on-screen impact of Miñoso’s exit in an interview published by TV Insider on September 30, 2026: “There is a definite void that I think Joe’s character is going to leave in the firehouse, but not just in his character, like the actor himself, Joe Miñoso.” TV Insider’s interview attributes the comment to Larracuente.
