Why does the new chief give the premiere its “monster” hook?
The episode’s title is “A Monster in the Field”; “Chicago Fire Season 13 Premiere Really Creates a Monster” is a critical framing, not the episode title or a literal description of a plot creature. In a September 27, 2024 review reproduced by Rotten Tomatoes, critic Brittany Frederick wrote, “The show creates a monster in its new chief.” That is her assessment of the leadership shake-up, not a confirmed plot description. Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing also credits Chad Saxton and Reza Tabrizi as directors and Gwen Sigan as screenwriter.
